Bullying, Technology, and Youth Depression

On April 19th at 6:30pm, the Nashua Police Athletic League is hosting nationally renowned speaker John Halligan at St. Patrick’s Gym on Main Street for a parents-only lecture and presentation entitled “Bullying, Technology and Youth Depression”. John experienced the consequences of cyber bullying first hand, when his son Ryan committed suicide in 2003 after being bullied on-line. Since his son’s death John has dedicated his life to educating parents and youths about this growing epidemic. This presentation is FREE of charge, and open to all.

In addition, the Nashua Police Department will have several detectives from the cyber-crimes unit on hand to answer any private or police related questions that may develop from concerned parents.

Intimidación, la Tecnología, y la Depresión Juvenil

El 19 de abril a las 6:30 pm, la Liga Atlética de la Policía de Nashua está ofreciendo un taller de Cyber-bullying con el presentador nacional, John Halligan, en el Gimnasio de St. Patrick en Main Street. Ésta presentación está dirigida a los padres y se titula "La Intimidación, la Tecnología y la Depresión Juvenil". John experimentó las consecuencias de la intimidación cibernética, cuando su hijo Ryan se suicidó en 2003 después de haber sido intimidado en línea. Desde la muerte de su hijo John ha dedicado su vida a la educación de los padres y jóvenes sobre esta creciente epidemia. Esta presentación es gratis y es abierta a todos.

Además, el Departamento de Policía de Nashua tendrá varios detectives de la unidad de delitos cibernéticos a su disposición para responder a cualquier pregunta que se pueden desarrollar a partir de ésta charla.

2º Domingo de Pascua "La Iglesia tiene la misión de anunciar la misericordia de Dios, corazón palpitante del Evangelio, que por su medio debe alcanzar la mente y el corazón de toda persona" (Misericordiae Vultus, número 12). Este Segundo Domingo de Pascua es llamado de la Misericordia Divina. En medio del gozo de la Pascua Dios se manifiesta por medio de su Hijo muerto y resucitado y el discípulo es invitado a dejarse modelar por Jesús. La liturgia de hoy pretende hacernos vivir y vibrar con los apóstoles la primera semana de la Resurrección. Por lo tanto, cabe preguntarnos lo siguiente. ¿Cómo estamos celebrando la Pascua? ¿Dónde vemos la misericordia de Dios en nuestra vida? ¿Creemos porque hemos visto? O, dejaremos que el Señor nos diga: "¡Dichosos los que creen sin haber visto!" (Jn 20, 29). La paciencia de Dios se manifiesta en este pasaje del Evangelio. Cristo es el objetivo y la meta de cualquier experiencia de la Iglesia y su comunidad. Ahora, con el soplo del Espíritu Santo, y la paz deseada los apóstoles ahí reunidos tendrán que responder con un espíritu nuevo y valentía renovada al compromiso de llevar a cabo la misión de anunciar el kerigma primitivo de la Iglesia. Pasión, muerte, resurrección y gloria de Cristo resucitado. ¡Qué hermosa noticia! Invita y anima al bautizado a caminar hacia su destino de gloria, aun en medio de sus penas y amarguras de su vida actual. Hagamos oración para que en está Pascua lleguemos a descubrir cómo "Jesús de Nazaret con su palabra, con sus gestos y con toda su persona revela la misericordia de Dios" (Misericordiae Vultus, número 1).
