ST. LOUIS AMERICAN • AUGUST 20 -26, 2015 A11 ONE SMALL CHANGE is an ongoing series that challenges us to take very small steps toward being more environmentally-friendly. If we all participate, then ONE SMALL CHANGE can make a big difference! Do you have a toilet in your house? Of course you do! By making this one small change, you can literally save a ton of water. Simply placing a brick (or two) in the top tank of your toilet will significantly reduce the amount of water used every time you flush the toilet. Be sure to get a parent’s permission ahead of time. Then all you’ll need to do is obtain a clean brick (they cost less than fifty cents at most hardware stores), carefully open the lid on the back tank of the toilet, and place the brick in the corner or somewhere safe in the tank. Just be sure you’re not obstructing anything from working inside the tank. Put the lid back on the tank and your one small change is done! The average family household flushes five times per day and with one or two bricks in your toilet tank you can conserve up to half a gallon of water per flush. At this rate your one small change will turn into saving 350 gallons of water per month! This of course saves money on the water bill too. Every day, Americans flush 4.8 billion gallons of water down the toilet and it is where the average household uses the most water. If all of us make this one small change it will have a huge impact on our communities and our water supply. So make the change today, go and get a brick, and challenge other friends to also Drop a Brick. DROP A BRICK! THIS CHANGE SAVES 4,200 GALLONS OF WATER PER YEAR!

ONE SMALL CHANGE is an ongoing series that challenges us to take very small steps toward being more environmentally-friendly.

At this rate your one small change will

turn into saving 350 gallons of water per month! This of course saves money on the water bill too. Every day,

Americans flush 4.8 billion gallons of water down the toilet and it is

where the average household uses the most water. If all of

us make this one small change it will have a huge impact on our

communities and our water supply. So make the change today, go and get a brick, and challenge other friends to also Drop a Brick.

DROP A BRICK!
