Continued from last week 18. The Gospel goes on to remind us that children are not the property of a family, but have their own lives to lead. Jesus is a model of obedience to his earthly parents, placing himself under their charge (cf. Lk 2:51), but he also shows that children’s life decisions and their Christian vocation may demand a parting for the sake of the Kingdom of God (cf. Mt 10:34-37; Lk 9:59- 62). ST LIBORIUS SCHOOL

Dear Parents and Friends of St Liborius, Fr Junjun Amaya will be moving to St Patrick’s, Kerang as Parish Priest on Wednesday 27th July. This will also mean that Fr Rom Hayes will no longer be Canonical Administrator of St Liborius Parish. Both Fr Rom & Fr Junjun have been with us at St Liborius for the past 3 years and have provided timely and endless support to staff, students and parents during this time. We have enjoyed their wisdom and friendship, something that I hope will continue for many years to come. We are privileged to be able to welcome Fr Antony Joseph Pedickattukunnel, presently Canonical Administrator of Holy Rosary Primary School, Heathcote who will become Parish Priest of St Liborius on Wednesday 27th July. St Liborius Feast Day- This Saturday 23rd July is the Feast of St Liborius. The 10.30am Sunday mass will be offered for St Liborius which all families are invited to attend. As a school, we will come together on Monday 25 to celebrate the Feast of St Liborius, beginning with mass in the Liborius Centre at 9.15am. All families are invited to come and celebrate with the students and staff on this morning. It will be a significant occasion as this will be the last time that Fr Junjun will celebrate mass with us as assistant priest to St Liborius parish & school. Following mass we will have morning tea in order to thank Fr Junjun and Fr Rom for all their support and wisdom over the past 3 years. Football- A bus load of very keen footballers headed off to the Bendigo Division Football today and will compete against a number of school teams from the Bendigo district. Play Group- Please continue to spread the word that our St Liborius Playgroup is open to everyone and runs each Thursday from 9-11am during the school terms. MARIST COLLEGE

Dear Parents, Farewell Fr Junjun: Since we opened at the beginning of last year we have been very fortunate to have Fr Junjun Amaya as a regular visitor to Marist. Fr Junjun has visited classes, led us in a number of liturgies and, more recently, taken part in our fortnightly “Munch on the Word”(Bible Studies). He has also attended each fortnight to celebrate Mass with us on a Wednesday. Today was his last Mass here at Marist. These masses have been a very special celebration for students and staff. In a week’s time Fr Junjun will move to become the Parish Priest for Kerang and Cohuna. His passion, energy and inspiring faith will be missed around our community. Thank you Fr Junjun and we wish you all the best in your new parish. They are indeed fortunate to have you moving into their community. Upcycled art: Our Year 7 students have now completed their upcycled art project. I wandered around last week and listened to some of the students explain the process they had followed to create their final piece. I was amazed at the quality of the artwork they had created. Year nine technology week: In the coming months each of our Year 9 students will have a full week at Bendigo TAFE. Arriving early before school: A reminder to parents that staff supervision in the yard each morning begins at 8:30am. On occasions we have some students arriving before this time. Parents need to realise the College does not take responsibility for these students and they will be unsupervised. Darren McGregor Principal

Senator is in a restaurant and the waiter brings over the rolls, but no butter. "May I have some butter, please?" The waiter gives a slight nod and wanders off. Ten minutes later, still no butter. The senator catches his eye. "May I have some butter, Please?" Still the vaguest of responses, and after ten more minutes, still no butter. "Maybe you don't know who I am," says the senator. "I'm a Princeton graduate, a Rhodes scholar, an All-American basketball player who played with the New York Knicks in the pros, and I'm currently a United States senator, chairman of the International Debt Subcommittee of the Senate Finance Committee, chairman of the Water and Power Subcommittee of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, and a member of the Senate Select Intelligence Committee." "Maybe you don't know who I am," said the waiter. "I'm the guy who's in charge of the butter".
