Dear Families, Happy Pentecost this Sunday! We had the best school Mass this week. Our fourth graders did a fine job of proclaiming the Scriptures, bringing up the gifts, and greeting guests at the door. Then, during the Homily we were treated to a nice surprise. Our former student Dejah's little sister and new baby brother were baptized. In a beautiful ceremony, and the first time many of our students had witnessed this sacrament (other than their own). The timing was perfect, too, because our first graders are studying Baptism right now in their religion class. Congratulations and welcome to our newest little Catholics, Darla and Donovan! What's more, Darla is on the waiting list for our preschool and hopes to start in September. Speaking of new students, I have been giving lots of tours to prospective families (three this week) and am happy to say that we will have new students in several classes next school year. Some of them are considering St. Kieran specifically because a current family told them about our school and recommended it for their children. Thank you very much, and please continue to spread the word to your friends and post those enrollment flyers around town. This week we celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Fatima. Our Lady appeared to three children in Portugal and implored them to pray the rosary. St. Kieran students prayed the rosary together this Monday, led by our sixth grade class. Today is the much anticipated Golf Ball Drop! The Garrett family's Maui Wowie smoothie cart will be on hand to add to the festivities. We will announce the lucky prize winners this afternoon. Thank you to everyone who sold or bought golf balls to help us meet our fund raising goals! Tomorrow is our annual Golf Tournament at Sycuan Golf Resort. This year, Mr. Provo and I are teamed up with Mrs. Heid and her husband. We are only beginner golfers, but we know we are going to have a great time because we will be out on a beautiful course, with good friends, raising money for a worthy cause. This golf committee has organized a fun tournament and dinner, with terrific auction and raffle prizes. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your hard work. See you on the course! Great news for SKCS Sports! Saturday, 5/14 @ 10:15am @ CCHS – Mallory Tarrant (6th grade) will be playing basketball with OLG in the JV Girls gold bracket championship games. A win means they will play again on Saturday, 5/21 @ 9:40 at CCHS. Wednesday, 5/18, USD vs. Arizona State @ Fowler Park, game time 6:00 p.m.– Donovan Yousif (6th grade) will be throwing out the first pitch.

Flag Football - practice is on-going every Tuesday from 3-5pm Returning students (4th-8th grades) interested in flag football or volleyball, turn in your permission forms. Girls Volleyball: Returning 4-8 grade girls - I now have a coach! Let’s get signed up to play volleyball! All uniforms should now be turned in!!! ***Don’t forget free tickets to USD games! Get your Smart & Final scrip so you can try it out. Being a scrip seller is a good way to get volunteer hours and to help fulfill your scrip obligation.
