Celebrate Care of Creation

On October 4, we celebrate the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, the Patron Saint of Animals. It also culminates The Season of Creation which is the five weeks that starts on September 1, the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation. Let us reflect on this day all of creation and the planet we live in with the words of Pope Francis “1. To reaffirm our personal vocation to be stewards of creation, 2. To thank God for the wonderful handiwork which He has entrusted to our care, and 3. To implore His help for the protection of creation as well as His pardon for the sins committed against the world in which we live.”1

Let us pray...

Good and gracious God of all created things, seen and unseen. You created all things in this world for our use, and charge us with protecting that creation. Help us to see in all things the reflection of a parent's love for a child. When we see your goodness in the face of the moon, we see our sister. When we feel the warmth of the sun on our face, we feel the love of a brother. We ask for your strength to give us wisdom and courage to protect our earthly environment from destruction and overuse. Help us to share the goodness and generosity of the earth with every living person. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our brother and savior. Amen.

Children’s Rosary: Thursday, Oct. 3, 5:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Children’s Adoration: Monday, Oct. 7, 4:45 pm - 5:30 pm

All children and their parents are invited to a recitation of the rosary at the foot of the altar. Children help lead the rosary. They may bring their own rosaries or we provide one for them.

Children's Eucharistic Adoration takes place a few times a year to give children an opportunity to experience this way of adoring Jesus. The children come to class and then process over to the main church as a group.

The Gift of Our Guardian Angels

It’s good to know we’re not alone. This October 2 we celebrate the feast of our guardian angels. In Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus tells us about the special guiding care of the angels. “See that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father”.

Our guardian angels are given to us by God to protect and watch over us from the moment we were in our mother’s womb. Let’s pray together to our own heavenly help:

Angel of God, my guardian dear,

to whom God’s love commits me here,

ever this day be at my side to light, to guard,

to rule, and to guide. Amen.

(The Bulletin will have the KIDS’ CORNER on the weekend when we have the Children’s Mass.)
