Eileen Lumpp (at home). Please keep all these people in your prayers.

BREAK-IN AT ST. JOHN’S: As most of you know by now, there was a break-in at St. John’s this past week and the interior of

the church was damaged. Father Anthony spoke with Father John this week and expressed our dismay and also offered our

prayers and anything else that we, as a parish, could do for our sister parish. We even offered the use of our facility for them to

use for Mass. At this time it seems that they have completed the repairs and cleanup of the church and it is again usable. Please

pray for Father John and the parishioners as they deal with this sad event.

THANK YOU TO STEVE ZLOCKIE: Steve has spent well over 40 hours repairing some shoddy workmanship

on the windows in the opening of the church as well as the one in the Chapel. We appreciate his time, effort, and skills. Thank

you, good and faithful servant!

FAITHFUL DEPARTED BRUNCH: The Bereavement Committee is hosting a pot luck brunch for families of those

who passed between last year’s Sunday of the Faithful Departed (1/31/16) and this year’s Sunday of the Faithful Departed

(2/19/17). Remembered are:

Mary Lemon Gene Hamed Betty Abdo

Judy Brennan Colleen DaPolito Grace Ash

Nick Ash Norm Hamed Tammy Malick

Debbie Jackson (Father’s Sister)

Jesus Christ, our Lord, make us worthy to remember the faithful departed who professed their faith to you and received your Body and Blood as nourishment and blessings. Grant them rest, and may they share in your eternal banquet and your everlasting joy. Count them among your chosen ones, and may they raise glory and thanks to you, to your Father, and to your Holy Spirit, forever: Amen

LENTEN FASTING RULES: Maronite fasting rules are in the current issue of the “Maronite Voice”.

The following should also be noted:

Reconciliation: Catholics are bound by an obligation faithfully to confess serious sins at least once a year (Canon 989).

Other Fridays of the Year: Catholics should be reminded that all other Fridays of the year remain as days of penance, in

prayerful remembrance of the Passion of Jesus Christ.

Obligation: The obligation which we have as members of the Church to do penance is a serious one. Furthermore, the

obligation to observe, as a whole or “substantially”, the penitential days specified by the Church is a serious one.

While no one should hold themselves lightly excused, one should not become unduly scrupulous. Failure to observe

individual days of penance is less serious than the failure to observe any penitential days at all or a substantial number of

such days.
