Welcome to St Joseph Engineering College, Mangaluru. I take great delight to introduce you to our College.

St Joseph Engineering College is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, Karnataka State and is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, India; established in the year 2002. Four of our B. E. programmes are re-accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for the years 2016-2019.

Our aim is to ensure that students have the skills necessary to succeed in today’s competitive job market with such balance. Together with the Management of the College, the faculty members constantly strive to provide students a holistic campus experience which moulds them into lifelong learners.

I am proud to say that recently the Indo Universal Collaboration for Engineering Education (IUCEE) has recognized St Joseph Engineering College, as a Transformational Leader in Engineering Education for the year 2017. Secondly, our students from Mechanical Engineering have won various events such as SAE-AEROINDIA, SAE BAJA, AIRBORNE etc. in state and national level and also many of our students participated in VTU University Level Tournaments, in the last three years more than 1000 students have been placed in reputed companies. With this I am happy to say that our College is marching towards greater heights of accomplishment.

SAEINDIA - SJEC & ISIE - SJEC COLLEGIATE CLUBS

TURTLE 1.0 1st place in South India and 18th National Rank at SAEINIDA Virtual Baja Event held at Indore-MP. (July 2016)

Best Performer Award (Spirit of ESI) at Enduro Student India 2017 – National Level ATV Racing Competition held at Coimbatore – TN. (Jan 2017)

TEAM ACHILLIUSDesigned & Fabricated Solar Vehicle SJEC Students participated in Electric Solar Vehicle Championship (ESVC) - Asia’s largest solar event which started in year 2013.

Secured 1st place in Karnataka & 4th place in India at virtual round of Electric Solar Vehicle Championship.

TURTLE 2.0 Took part in SAE India BAJA 2018 and secured 2nd place in Karnataka and 19th Place in India.

TURTLE 3.0 Team SJEC Racing gave outstanding performance in National level ATV racing events.

AUTOMATION AND ROBOTICS CLUB ARC - SJECThe Automation and Robotics Club ARC-SJEC offers its members a platform to engage in funded projects, competitions and training programs related to Automation and Robotics. The Club aims to equip its members with knowledge and skills catering to Industry 4.0.

The members are currently engaged in developing:

• Functional Robot • Prosthetic Humanoid Arm • Vertical Take-Off and Landing Aero model • 3D Printer • Drone

TERRORBULL ROBOTICSOne of the first teams from Karnataka to represent the state at National and International robotic events.

The team builds and develops Wireless Combat Robots, Autonomous Robots, Drones, Hobby RC such as cars, boats, hovercrafts and remotely operated rovers. The team members have also designed and built various devices like radio transmitters, motor drivers, welding machines for battery contacts etc. Terrorbull has participated and won in various National level events such as BITS- Goa, IIT Madras, SPCE -Andheri, NIT-Warangal and has participated in International Robowars for two consecutive years at IIT-Bombay TechFest.

TEAM ASTRO The TEAM ASTRO comprising students from Third Year Mechanical Engineering of SJEC, has secured 1st place in Karnataka and All India 12th place out of 52 teams that participated in Regular class (with Electric motor) from all over the country.

The TEAM SJEC - AIRBORNE has secured All India 2nd Place out of 11 teams that participated in the Regular class (IC Engine class) from all over the country at Aero Championship 2017.

In the current corporate scenario, the competition for employment is increasing and getting a job and building careers has become a daunting task. Training the students to make them technically compe-tent and equipping them with life-skills has become an integral responsibility of the institution. Along with shaping up a student’s technical expertise, working towards developing a holistic personality is also

necessary. To meet these requirements, a fully fledged Office of Training is operational in SJEC, work-ing towards enhancing the capabilities of the engineering graduates to make them on par with the

industry standards.

V-ACT is a highly ambitious training initiative of St Joseph Engineering College in Collaboration with the Office of Training. It comprises of Values & Attitude training, Aptitude Training, Career

Guidance and Technical Training all under its banner. At V-ACT, our aim to work as a unified team, and contribute to the growth of the Institution by providing the students with the tools and training

necessary to be employed in the company of their choice and career enhancements.

PLACEMENTSJEC aims to match the requirements of the Corporate World with the aspirations of the students thereby facilitating the achievement of synergy

between the two. There are various Placements activities that are conducted throughout various semester to make them industry ready..

At SJEC, it is our belief that experiences of corporate leaders provide invaluable learning to the students of engineering and management. IGNITIA – A Series of Motivational Talk has been designed to serve as a forum for exchange of intellectually stimulating ideas between business heads and future managers through the seminar format. Internship play a major role in gaining hands-on experience at various industries.

There is a well equipped Training department which facilitates training related to employability skills at all levels.

Over the year SJEC campus placements has seen a upward marching graph while longing for better placements of students in Core industries. About 80% of eligible students from the circuit branches are placed every year. Students have brought laurels to college by securing their positions in defense sectors – Indian Navy and Indian Army. We also take pride in sharing some of the best placements at Companies likes TCS, Wipro, Infosys and Core organizations like Cadence, BOSCH, Indo US MIM, PRDC, Amazon, Microsoft etc.
