To be frank, after all that has happened this year, I have seen a change in how I react to the news that comes up. At first it was a

shock, then sadness, then anxiety, then anger, and now it is getting to the point where I feel too exhausted to even react. This is

not to say that there have not been good events happening this year, but by only focusing on the negative we’ve grown

increasingly tired. We can also tell that people in general are on edge, ready to jump into arguments or to vent their frustrations.

It almost reminds me of when I am hungry; I lose my patience quickly and become too sensitive. This is surely a feeling we all

are familiar with, whether we admit it or not, that is the reason why that ad campaign for the chocolate bar Snickers is funny,

because it is very true. Now, when we are hungry, we can try snacking away, but even then, that might not be enough and at

worse we might be filling ourselves with junk that does not satisfy. We are hungry and tired from carrying everything that is

going on in the world. It is very fitting then that we celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi this weekend. In the Gospel Jesus fed

the people several times, and the greatest sign of love was feeding us with His body and blood. With this feast, Jesus reminds us

that He has seen our tiredness and hunger, He really wants to feed us, He wants us to find rest and peace within him. As I

mentioned in the beginning, I am not immune to worries, and I lose sleep sometimes worrying about the future, but at a certain

point, especially during prayer and especially at Mass, I am reminded that regardless of what the future brings, God will always

come to us. Receiving Holy Communion has helped me to remain strong during these times, and so I encourage all of you to try

to receive communion. These might be difficult times, but we are all doing our part in the church to remain safe by keeping

social distancing and having protocols that minimize the risk of contagion should anyone be infected. However, we must

recognize that we have been blessed with a low number of cases so far, and if we continue to be safe it may remain that way, but

we must also not starve ourselves spiritually. If you are able to, please consider attending any of our daily Masses at 7am or 12

Noon Monday thru Friday, which still have low attendance, so that you can receive the sacrament to be renewed and

strengthened. We still have a long road before us, Jesus calls us to be fed, let us heed the call and receive the food from heaven,

so that we may not collapse along the way. Let us also pray for our children who will be receiving their First Holy Communion

in the coming weeks, that they may also benefit from their reception of the Eucharist.

In this time of trial and testing,

teach all of us in the Church to love one another and to

be patient and kind.

Help us to bring the peace of Jesus to our land and to

our hearts.

We come to you with confidence,

knowing that you truly are our compassionate mother,

health of the sick and cause of our joy.

Shelter us under the mantle of your protection,

Keep us in the embrace of your arms,

help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus.
