Dear Parishioners, Bulle n Deadline The deadline for this bulle n was April 3rd. With things changing daily, it’s hard to predict what will be our situa on on April 12th. Easter I’m wri ng this before Easter and s ll need to figure out how to celebrate Palm Sunday and Holy Week in light of the coronavirus. What can I say about Easter? For up-to-date messages closer to the actual events, sign-up for Flocknote. We’ve gone through a unique Lent, giving up more than we ever imagined. By now, we might be wondering how much longer will this go on. We might be in a complaining mood. If you want to know how to complain well, look to the prophet Jeremiah. He offers many laments. A lament has three parts: a complaint, a gap, and praise of God. First, the complaint: When our cross is heavy (or light), it’s good for us to tell the Lord everything that’s on our minds. We can complain to Him. As we’re complaining to Him, we might experience a lightening of our cross because of our increasing trust in Him. Second, the gap: A er we’re done pouring out our heart to the Lord, we then wait. O en nothing is apparently said or done in the gap. While we’re wai ng, even as nothing seems to be happening, the Lord is working on us. We can know this be-cause of the third stage of the lament. Third, praise God: It may be plain or mysterious to us. But we then have this great urge to praise God for who He is and what He has done for us. Where are we in these three stages of the la-ment? If we’re s ll complaining, we can finish our complaint and wait. Then that glimmer of hope can be nurtured. We can begin to experience the joy of Easter. Two More Parishioners with the Coronavirus Both Lorraine and George Manfredonia were taken to the hospital, diagnosed with COVID-19, and passed from this life to the next. May they rest in peace with our Loving Savior.

Page Five Easter Sunday On-line Dona ons: Parish and SVDP We're ready. A few people have already donated on-line, and the money has arrived in our parish checking account. So, we now invite everyone who is able to financially support our parish and our St. Vincent de Paul Society by making on-line dona ons instead of using envelopes or mailing in contribu-

ons. Just like with your envelopes, you can support our parish by dona ng on-line and choosing the "fund" that corresponds to your envelope. You can pick funds like "Weekly Contribu on" or "Easter". We've also added funds for "Mass Inten-

ons" and "Religious Educa on." Basically, we want to make it possible to donate on-line for a variety of purposes. Our SVDP conference con nues to adapt in order to con nue helping the poor. We prefer on-line do-na ons rather than food dona ons. Fulfill has pro-vided food. Your financial support will make it pos-sible for our SVDP conference to help the growing number of people who need assistance. In light of the coronavirus, we prefer on-line do-na ons. But you can s ll mail your dona ons to the office. Just note that we don't open the mail for three days. There are a few different ways to donate on-line. 1) Go to our dona on page at h ps://www.stjohnlakehurst.com/dona ons. Choose ei-ther our parish or our SVDP conference. 2) Text the amount to 732-785-4347. You'll get a reply with a link to a website where you can fill in your informa on. 3) Call Gina at 732-657-6347. She can enter your informa on on-line for you. We encourage you to "Sign In" and "Register for an Account" to make it easier for you in the fu-ture. ParishSo Giving is safe and secure like any of your banking or credit card websites. If you've done any on-line banking or purchasing, then you'll easily navigate our ParishSo Giving webpages. Charlie, Gina, and I will be working on linking the data from ParishSo Giving to ParishSo Fami-

lySuite where we track your offerings so that we can give you a tax receipt in January. Since on-line dona-

ons will go into our parish checking account, you'll get credit on our parish charity statement in Janu-ary. If you intend the dona on to go to the SVDP, we'll send the SVDP the dona on. But the SVDP won't give you a charity statement for tax purposes since it's already listed under the parish. This might actually save the SVDP from some paperwork. We're trying to make this simple for you while Charlie, Gina, and I deal with the complexi es be-hind the scene. Again, I want to thank everyone who has been trying to support our parish at this me. Hopefully, on-line dona ons will make it easier and safer for all of us. We're in this together. Parish Mailing and Phone Calls We will likely send out a mailing to the whole parish soon with important updates because some of our parishioners don’t use computers. We have started making phone calls to parish-ioners to let them know what is going on and ask how they’re doing. Please keep in touch with your family, friends, and neighbors—especially those not on social media or e-mail. Formed.org Being at home, this might be a good me to check out the wonderful materials at Formed.org. Signing up is much easier now. If you haven’t signed up, then choose “Sign Up” and select “I belong to a Parish or Organiza on”. Search for “St. John, Lake-hurst”. Annual Catholic Appeal Even though we’re in the midst of the corona-virus adventure, we s ll have our Annual Catholic Appeal. As of March 31st, 280 families have pledged $38,599 and already donated $31,389. We’ve reached 58% of $66,000 goal. God love you, Fr. Jim [email protected]
