L ast Sunday Deacon Dan Roff celebrated 40 years as a Deacon. Deacon Dan is the second Deacon from our parish to
reach this milestone as Deacon Skip celebrated his 40th anniversary last year. Dan has spent four decades serving
the people of this parish and the broader archdiocese. Dan has had the constant support of his wife Clarice and
their adult children (and now his grandchildren). When you total the number of years of service to the church for Deacon
Dan, Deacon Skip and Sr. Margaret, you get 160 years! Blessings to Deacon Dan as he celebrates his 40th Anniversary.
Thanks to all our volunteers who joined us Friday evening for our Annual Volunteer Mass and Reception. Our parish staff
loves to take this opportunity to annually express our deepest thanks. A parish this size could not exist without the gener-
ous services of hundreds of volunteers and literally thousands of volunteer hours. Thanks to all our volunteers and ministers
for your dedicated service here at St. John.
June 4th in addition to being the celebration of Pentecost, was also Priests Appreciation Day instituted by the Cath-
olic Daughters of the Americas. Special thanks to our Catholic Daughters for the love and support they provide to all three
priests here at St. John (I have to get used to saying three again now that Fr. Juan Antonio is assisting our Spanish speaking
parishioners). Thanks to our Catholic Daughters.
Speaking of thanks, a very sincere thanks to the staff at the new Krispy Kreme in Frederick. The week before they open they
visited all the Churches downtown and delivered 4 dozen donuts to each of the city Churches. Our staff had a sugar high all
week long. It was a very kind gesture from a business before they even opened to the public. Thanks Krispy Kreme and
welcome to Frederick (even though donuts are so not on my diet).
This weekend we honor our fathers, living and deceased, as our country celebrates Father’s Day. This is a wonderful
opportunity to thank our fathers for their incredible contributions to God’s plan for His sons and daughters. There is a spe-
cial place in our hearts for our fathers and grandfathers, especially if they are no longer with us. Please take a moment to
say thanks to your Dad today in person, by phone, by text, social media or with your prayers to heaven. Happy Father’s Day
to all our fathers.
Finally, a word of congratulations to 46 young people who received the Sacrament of Confirmation last Saturday.
Those being confirmed were: Cristofer Acevedo, Andrew Amadeo, Jennifer Arguenta, John Austin, Joseph Bailey, Su-
sana Beza, Nicholas Brandt, Kaitlyn Burns, Shaun Clem, Julianne Conlon, Leslie Cruz, Christine de la Cruz Quiambao,
Rainnamei Elad, Kevin Figueroa, Declan Fitzgerald, Thomas Frazier, Madison Gamble, Juan Alfonso Garcia, Anthony
Genovese, Michael Gerlock, Nicolas Gerlock, Jefry Gonzalez, Heidi Gonzalez-Ramirez, Bruce Gorrostieta, Moses Gor-
rostieta, Kurt Grzybowski, Jesus Hernandez, Madison Kwik-Uribe, Leila Leskuski, Jonathan Mahue, Evelyn Martinez,
Ashley Mayton, Jose Molinero Lopez, Bonecka Njie, Anna Ordonio, Natalie-Ann Poquiz, Ryan Puthumana, Cinthia
Ramirez, Jose Romero, Edwin–John Royales, Rose Ruziska, Isabel Ryan, Maria Sanchez, Anthony Snyder and Joseph
Thomas. It is our hope they will become ever more active in the Church and continue to grow in their relationship with the
Father, Son and Holy Spirit!

Today as we celebrate the gift of the Body and Blood of
Christ, let us pray for those who are hungry, malnourished

The Catholic Church in the United States will observe a
Fortnight for Freedom, June 21-July 4. The Fortnight is a
time for prayer,
education, and action
to support and
defend religious
freedom in our nation
and around the world.
This year’s Fortnight will celebrate past and present
“witnesses to religious freedom.” The Archdiocese of
Baltimore will host events to mark the Fortnight, beginning
with the nationally-televised opening Mass, celebrated by
Archbishop William E. Lori, at the Baltimore Basilica on June
21 at 7 p.m. More information about the Mass and other
events taking place in the Archdiocese may be found at
www.archbalt.org.
Registration for next year’s Faith Formation classes (K-12)
and sacraments is underway. Registration forms are availa-
ble on our website, in the back of the church, and in the
parish office. In order to avoid the $50 late fee, be sure to
have everything turned in to the office by June 30. This
includes your completed registration form, Baptism certifi-
cate if registering for sacraments, and either a full payment
or a partial payment and the payment plan form. If you
have any questions, please contact Sara Ryan in the parish
office.
Saints Cards Needed! Faith Formation is looking for saint
cards to use in a program this fall. If you have any at home
you are able to donate to this program, please leave them
in an envelope in the parish office for Amy Spessard. Thank
you!

The Feast of Corpus Christi is the Feast of the Body and
Blood of Christ. The Eucharist is the
source and summit of the life of the
Church. Just as God fed the Israelites
with manna from heaven, so too are
we nourished and fed in the most
Holy Sacrament. June 18 is designated
by the Church as a special day to
celebrate this Presence of God in our
midst. St. John’s will have a special
time of quiet prayer, adoration and exposition of the
Blessed Sacrament following the last Mass until 4:00 p.m.
Come and spend some time in prayer before the Blessed
Sacrament for yourself, for your father, and with your
father.
Thank you for visiting us for our free blood pressure clinic
over the past months. Please be aware that this service will
not be available over the summer, but will resume in the
fall. In the meantime, be sure to take good care and have a
safe, healthy summer!
There is a new young adult ministry in the parish—the
Catholic Fellowship of Frederick! This community is de-
signed specifically for adults in their 20s and 30s. A kick-off
cookout is planned for Wednesday, June 21, 7 p.m. in the
pavilions to the left of Baker Park pool. The Fellowship will
provide hamburgers and hot dogs; please bring a side dish
or snack to share. For more information, please contact
SPECIAL NOTE: Fr. Juan Antonio has begun offering Mass
in Spanish on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. All are welcome! We are
happy to have Fr. Juan preside at this Mass during the week
for our Hispanic Community and to all who wish to attend.

Bendiciones a
bado. Aquellos que fueron confirmados son: Cristofer Acevedo, Andrew Amadeo, Jennifer Arguenta, John Austin, Jo-
seph Bailey, Susana Beza, Nicholas Brandt, Kaitlyn Burns, Shaun Clem, Julianne Conlon, Leslie Cruz, Christine de la
Cruz Quiambao, Rainnamei Elad, Kevin Figueroa, Declan Fitzgerald, Thomas Frazier, Madison Gamble, Juan Alfonso
Garcia, Anthony Genovese, Michael Gerlock, Nicolas Gerlock, Jefry Gonzalez, Heidi Gonzalez-Ramirez, Bruce Gor-
rostieta, Moses Gorrostieta, Kurt Grzybowski, Jesus Hernandez, Madison Kwik-Uribe, Leila Leskuski, Jonathan Mahue,

thumana, Cinthia Ramirez, Jose Romero, Edwin–John Royales, Rose Ruziska, Isabel Ryan, Maria Sanchez, Anthony
Snyder y Joseph Thomas. Es nuestra esperanza que serán más activos en la Iglesia y continuarán creciendo en su relación
con el Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo.
