When Habakkuk prayed, he cried out, “Violence!” (Hab 1:2) He described his situation as “ruin,” “misery,” “de-struction,” “strife,” and “clamorous discord” (Hab 1:3). He begged God to intervene (Hab 1:2), but God didn’t seem to do anything.

We live in times which fit Habakkuk’s descrip-tion. We live in the most violent and murderous of times for several reasons. One major reason is the mass murders occurring through abortions. We tend to feel depressed and hopeless. However, the Lord calls this a “rash” response to the violence and evil in our society

(see Hab 2:4). Rather, our response should be one of faith (Hab 2:4). If we have faith the size of a mustard seed, we can uproot the violence and death entrenched in our society (Lk 17:6).

Pope St. John Paul II taught: “If we look at to-day’s world, we are struck by many negative fac-tors that can lead to pes-simism. But this feeling is unjustified: we have faith in God our Father and Lord, in His goodness and mercy” (Mission of the Redeemer, 86). There-fore, despite violence and sin, don’t be pessimistic, but have even greater faith. Walk by faith, not sight (2 Cor 5:7).

Werset psalmu respon-soryjnego: „Obyście dzisiaj usłyszeli głos Jego” uczy nas przedzi-wnej chrześcijańskiej postawy zasłuchania. Otwarcia naszego serca, umysłu, duszy na głos przemawiającego Boga. Ten, Który był, Który jest, przychodzi do nas każdego dnia. Dla nas jest ważne, abyśmy potra-fili „usłyszeć Jego głos”. Dostrzec obecność Boga może tylko człowiek, który jest blisko Nie-go, który stara się tę bliskość podtrzymywać. Człowiek taki uczy się wrażliwości, otwarcia się na Boga, odpowiada-nia na Jego wezwania. Bóg przychodzi do nas i mówi. Przez fakt stworzenia świata, przez przyrodę, jej piękno mówi o Sobie, objawia, jaki jest. Przez człowieka

przemawia Bóg do dru-giego człowieka. Dru-gi człowiek jest tym, który może być źródłem prawdy o Bogu. Bóg przemawia również przez słowa Pisma Świętego. Pięknie to wyraża stara chrześcijańska formuła, według której Biblia jest „listem napisanym przez Boga do człowieka”. Święty Paweł w Liście do Tymoteusza w prostych i bardzo os-obistych słowach zachęca do dawania c h r z e ś c i j a ń s k i e g o świadectwa: „Nie wstydź się zatem świadectwa Pana naszego ani mnie, Jego więźnia, lecz weź udział w trudach i przeciwnościach zno-szonych dla Ewangelii według danej mocy Boga”. Każdy z nas jest powołany do świadczenia o Chrys-tusie, w miejscu pracy, w domu czy w szkole. Nie tylko w wielkich uroczystych chwilach, ale także codzienności. Chodzi o to, aby ludzie, patrząc na nas widzieli, że jesteśmy chrześcijanami. To proste, a zarazem często najtrudniejsze, bo wymagające. Bycie chrześcijaninem wyma-ga świadomego wybo-ru, który trzeba stale, każdego dnia powtarzać. Prośba Apostołów: „Panie, przymnóż nam wiary” jest wołaniem, które często wydobywa się z duszy człowieka. Są w życiu chwile, kiedy wiemy, że tylko Bóg

może nam pomóc, ty-lko do Niego możemy się zwrócić, bo wie-my, że nas wysłucha. Żywa wiara zakłada więź, relację bliskości, modlitwę rozumianą jako rozmowa, spot-kanie z Bogiem. Zakłada pamięć o innych lud-ziach, o wydarzeni-ach, których potrafimy Bogu opowiadać. Bóg oczekuje, abyśmy do Niego się zwracali, a wtedy nasza wiara się umacnia. On karmi nas sobą samym. Ludzka codzienność znaczy dom rodzinny, ale też i chwile wypoczynku. Na codzienność składa się to, co robimy i to, jakimi jesteśmy. Również Bóg, przez swoją obecność i naszą z Nim więź, jest częścią tej codzienności. Wezwanie: „Obyście dzisiaj usłyszeli Jego głos” przypomina, że nie powinno być tak-iego dnia w naszym życiu, w którym byśmy nie wyrazili prośby o usłyszenie głosu Ojca. Bez Bożej obecności, bez Jego słowa nasza codzienność nie tylko traci sens, ale często jest niewytłumaczalna, oci-era się o absurdalność. Bo pełne wypełnienie i zrozumienie dokonuje się tylko w Chrystusie, który jest początkiem i końcem naszego życia i całego wszechświata.

Kwiaty do kościoła

Jeśli ktoś życzy sobie złożyć donacje na kwiaty do naszej świątyni lub mając jubileusz czy jakąś rocznicę chciałby ofiarować kwiaty z tej okazji do któregoś z ołtarzy prosimy, aby uczynić to z dwu-tygod-niowym wyprzedzeniem powiadamiając Fr Bog-dana osobiście lub tel-efonicznie. W miesiącu październiku nasza pol-ska wspólnota będzie odpowiedzialna za de-korowanie kościoła dlatego tym bardziej zachęcamy do składania ofiar na ten cel.

Październik – Miesiąc Różańcowy

Miesiąc październik jest w sposób szczególny poświęcony Matce Bożej Różańcowej. Dlatego też zapraszamy do udziału w nabożeństwach różańcowych, które będą odprawiane w naszej świątyni w każdy piątek miesiąca października o godz. 7 pm. Pierwsze nabożeństwo 7 października pop-rowadzi Diakon Kr-zysztof Jabłoński. Drugie nabożeństwo wypada 14 października i poprowadzi je „Chór dorosłych”. Trzecie będzie 21 października i rozważaniom będzie przewodził „Domowy Kościół”. W ostatni piątek miesiąca października nabożeństwu będą przewodzić Ministranci. Odmawiajmy różaniec zawsze, a szczegól-nie w tym miesiącu poświęconym Królowej Różańca świętego. Niech w naszych rodzinach nie zabraknie pamięci o naszej Polskiej Królowej i Matce Różańca Świętego. Nawet jedna „dziesiątka” ( 1 raz Ojcze nasz i 10 razy Zdrowaś Maryjo) odmówione każdego dnia w każdym polskim domu przynie-sie Jej chwałę, a nam Ona wyprosi wiele łask przed tronem Swego Syna. Królowo Różańca Świętego, módl się za nami!

Music Charity concert

Perth and Kinross’s Instrumental Music Ser-vice is celebrating its 50th anniversary year with a concert in support of the next generation of young musicians.

Contrary to George Bernard Shaw maxim, ‘those who can, do, and those who can’t, teach!’ - the staff of the music ser-vice will themselves be performing in St John’s Episcopal Church, Princ-es St, Perth, at 2.30pm on Sunday 2nd October.

Tickets available at the door (and at Concorde) £10; concessions £5 and families £25 - raffle and refreshments.

L’Arche is a grass-roots organisation that builds community net-works from the ground up - working with people with and without learn-ing disabilities.

Its core value is that of shared lives: mutual rela-tionships.

L’Arche is currently exploring the prospects within Perth for launch-ing a new community.

It offers:• More than forty years’ experience in the UK

• the first community in Scotland was in Inver-ness

• Edinburgh is the sec-ond Scottish location of the ten in the UK

• there are 148 across the world

Service provision is one aspect of L’Arche, whose shape reflects the desire of local peo-ple with learning dis-abilities, their networks of relatives and friends, and the commissioning plans of that area’s So-cial Work team. Local plans reflect the existing strengths of the area.

Usually this provision begins with supporting people at home – some-times in a new home.

But L’Arche is open to seeing what people in a local group would most value. There is a network of people with a grow-ing desire to see L’Arche grow in Perth comes be-fore the plans, resources, and buildings that make

Could L’Arche grow in Perth?

Use of the Parish Car ParkThe parish car park is for the use of pa-rishioners attending Mass or other church services and for those attending events in the hall.

Cars, other than those belonging to the clergy, should not be left in the car park for long periods of time and the car park should not be used for overnight parking.Any permission which may have been granted in the past for longer term park-ing is now withdrawn.

Issues relating to the car park are dealt with by a sub group of the Parish Pasto-ral Council. Please do not approach the clergy about matters relating to use of the car park.

Owners of cars left in the car park for lengthy periods of time will receive a notice advising them to remove their cars and providing them with contact details should they need further information.
