A new parish website was unveiled this week. We tried to design a more current and user friendly model, which we can update often and cover all the happenings in our parish. Please take a look at the site and let the office staffs know what you think.

St. Patrick’s Day Dinner Join us for a St. John's FUN FAMILY event! - Mark your calendar for our annual St. Patty's Day Celebration on March 12th from 5:30pm-8:00pm. Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $7 for kids and new this year, VIP ticket is $35 (VIP tickets include table service, special wines, decorations, and swag). This night you'll enjoy entertainment, raffle, live and silent auctions, photo booth, and both a traditional and kid-friendly menu. Come and enjoy this fun filled community event! Spread some Irish Cheer by finding your favorite 5th grader for either dinner and raffle tickets, or go, for dinner tickets only, online at http://sjshbg.org/giving/school-fundraisers and click on the St. Patrick’s Day Dinner link (note you cannot purchase raffle tickets online, but you can through the office or a 5th grader). Easter Flowers
You are invited to make an Easter flower donation in memory of a loved one, living or deceased. There are envelopes in the Church. Be sure and write the names of the persons you wish to remember and turn them in to the parish office by putting it in the collection basket, dropping it by or mailing it. All of the names will be printed in our Easter bulletin. The deadline is noon on Monday, March 21st.

FOURTH SUNDAY OF LENT
The Year of MERCY Fourth Sunday of Lent On Laetare Sunday, we rejoice as Luke’s Jesus proclaims that God is boundlessly merciful. The parable’s prodigal son returns home, not authentically repentant but desperate, having squandered on prostitutes (or so his older brother claims) the inheritance wrongly demanded while his father still lived. This selfish son is only spared ritual “shaming” when the father “shames” himself, running to embrace him, interrupting his prepared “act of contrition.” By doing so he challenges confessors, and all of us, to be signs, says Pope Francis, “of the primacy of mercy always, everywhere, and in every situation, no matter what.” Avoid the harshness of the elder son, Francis warns, “who stands outside, incapable of rejoicing,” his judgment “severe, unjust, and meaningless in light of the father’s boundless mercy” (Misericordiae Vultus, 17). If John’s Gospel is proclaimed, the “religiously observant” people there likewise serve to warn against harshly judging others, for the physical blindness of the man they expel from the synagogue is healed, while their own blindness of heart remains.

College Scholarships – ICF is offering college scholarships to high school graduates for the 2016-17 school year. Students are eligible if they have any Italian ancestry, are Catholic and have a GPA of 3.2 or above, or, if they are non-Catholic and belong to the ICF. For information, see your school counselor or call the ICF main office at 1-888-423-1924. Applications are also available on-line at www.icf.org. Deadline to apply is March 15th.
