Bishop Ryan Catholic School News

Twice Blessed Update! Your generosity has put us past the quarter-mark to our goal of raising $5,000 and earning a $5,000 match from the St. Joseph’s Commu-nity Health Foundation’s TWICE BLESSED cam-paign! Through the end of December, every dollar do-nated to Bishop Ryan at twiceblessednd.com or sjch-fnd.com/organizations/bishop-ryan will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $5,000. All TWICE BLESSED proceeds help with instruments, music and instruction for our free After-School Strings Academy program for Bishop Ryan 3rd-8th graders who are interested in learning violin, viola or cello. Thank you, in advance, for helping to surround our students in beautiful music!

Lot-O-Dough Calendars are available for purchase for $25. More than 300 chances to win money in daily drawings held at Bishop Ryan from January through June. These make excellent Christmas gifts! Calendars are available after the weekend Masses, in parish offic-es, and in the Bishop Ryan business office.

Christmas Shopping? Use Scrip gift cards for pur-chases or gifts. Many local businesses participate in the program. (Our website: www.bishopryan.com has a national list, also.) Shop at these businesses; pay with gift cards; they, in turn, support Bishop Ryan and fami-lies with rebates from the cards. Cards cost nothing ex-tra. Purchase them after the weekend Masses, in the office during the week and at Bishop Ryan.\

Angel Tree Helps Catholic Charities Catholic Charities North Dakota offers Pregnancy, Parenting, and Adoption Services (PPAS). Anyone experiencing an unplanned pregnancy can receive ser-vices through PPAS. When a mom chooses to parent her child, Catholic Charities North Dakota helps edu-cate and prepare her to be ready. But they often lack the supplies to properly care for their new baby. You can be a part of this by helping supply new or gently used baby items through the Angel Tree. Diapers and clothes for newborns up to 12 months, baby wipes, diaper cream, bottles, pacifiers, baby wash/lotion, burp cloths, receiving blankets, and Infant Tylenol are need-ed. Most other baby items also welcome. Please do not donate baby food or formula as babies often need a specific type; we can use gift cards or financial dona-tions from you to purchase these items. Thank you very much for your support of our local moms! Questions? Please visit our website at: www.CatholicCharitiesND.org or call #852-2854.

Stewardship Thought Our church and community offer many op-portunities for using our time and talent in God’s service.

Jesus with no hands During a World War II bombing raid, a French (or German) village lost a beloved statue of Christ. The villagers painstakingly sifted through the rubble and managed to rebuild the statue, except for its hands. They searched and searched, but the pieces were never found. Finally, the villagers placed a plaque on the statue with the inscription from St. Teresa of Avila: I have no hands but yours.
