“And now, O Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in you.”

Psalm 39:7

As I write this, the anticipation and excitement of Christmas

have passed. We now begin the wait for spring. Yet, even as

I look forward to more daylight hours and warmer tempera-

tures, I wait with a deep sense of hope. It’s hope filled antici-

pation, not only for spring, but for all that God holds for us

as St. John in the new year.

Our Church Council has been hard at work this past year

discerning God’s will for our congregation. They have been

very faithful as they explore how to best equip us to be about

the ministry God has planned here. They have also been

diligent stewards of our facility, ensuring that our building

and grounds will adequately serve this growing ministry.

This is an exciting and hope filled time for us as a congrega-

tion. As we move into the New Year, watch for exciting news

about how you can be a part of the all that God has planned

for us. This will be a year of wonderful opportunities, bless-

ings and challenges for us to spread the good news of Christ

in our community and beyond.

May the blessings and challenges of this year serve to grow

your faith and deepen your relationship with God.

Happy New Year,

Pastor Cindy

uphold their families in resurrection hope.

A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO

EVERYONE WHO HELPED TO

DECORATE OUR SANTUARY

INTO A BEAUTIFUL

CHRISTMAS SETTING

This year our Sunday School children shared

“A Red Letter Christmas.” They did a great

job telling the Christmas story and we

extend a special thank you to Jill Quigley for

her leadership.

On Thursday, Dec. 21st we gathered

around the campfire with hot chocolate,

cookies, the Christmas story and carols.

It was a beautiful evening.

The Longest Night Worship

Tammy Lewis has accepted the position of Children’s Ministry Coordinator for St. John effective Jan. 1. Her primary role will be to provide opportunities that nourish faith of youth from 3 year old through 5th grade. She will provide the primary leadership for all things related to Sunday School and provide support to our VBS program. Previously position had been shared with Jenna Benjamin and had focused on Sunday School only. We hope this expanded role will provide more opportunities for our youngest ones to grow in faith. We want to sincerely thank Jenna Benjamin for her work and leadership of Sunday School the past few years.

‘Tis the season for the youth of St. John! Sticking with our theme of giving back while enjoy-

ing each other’s company, St. John Lutheran Church youth gave back to the Salvation

Army by ringing bells at Festival Foods in De Pere, and Dick’s Family Foods in Wrightstown.

Laughter rang through the basement of our church at the “Minute-to-Win-it” Christmas

Party and Gift Exchange mid-December. More than 15 youth ate pizza, challenged each

team to complete amusing games in less than one minute, and ended the evening with a

gift exchange…that included “stealing” gifts! We also talked about the best gift anyone

could get this Christmas…Jesus’ grace and forgiveness from sin.

Plans are in the works for the next five months of youth group activities…

but mark your calendar for:

Sunday, January 21st, (time is tentatively 2-5 p.m.) Tubing at Kewaunee Winter Park – we

are going to try and make this happen this year! Parent volunteer drivers are needed!

Sunday, February 11th, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. – Learn 2 Curl at Green Bay Curling Club! Kids and

adults (up to 30 total) are invited to learn to curl at the Green Bay Curling Club. Instruction

and game play is included at the club in Ashwaubenon. Parents volunteer drivers are

needed!

We would like to thank everyone who helped make the Stocking Stuffer Sunday sale such a great success. We made $162.00 that will help go for supplies to make the quilts. If any-one would want to come and help out we meet on every Thursday from 9am until noon and you do not have to stay the whole time if you do not want. There are many jobs that can be done like counting out the squares and putting them in bags, ironing, sewing, help put the quilts together or just come for laughs and treats. If you are cleaning and want to get rid of any gently used sheets we will take them as they are good for backs. We would like to see you. If you would like to purchase any of the quilts we make just let us know. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. Judy Beerntsen
