Dear Parishioners, The Easter mystery gives us hope, a new horizon for our lives. Through our Baptism in Christ, God has given us the catalyst or energy to be his servants. We are now Christ’s eyes, ears, hands, and heart to free all who are imprisoned and sitting in darkness, hoping and praying for some sign of Resurrection in their lives. Yes, despite the pessimism and negativity that can darken our spirits, God's love and mercy gives us the ability to be “game changers.” Nothing is impossible with God's love! Thanks to everyone who pitched in during the busy sea-son of Lent and Easter. We're grateful to those who help lead us in prayer each Sunday! Many details and co-ordination happens each week with choir rehearsals, re-hearsals of Altar Servers, scheduling of ministers and the like which makes everything go smoothly. It looks auto-matic but much work takes place to make it happen in a prayerful manner! Thanks to all who help plan and work on the many parish Lenten and social gatherings, including our maintenance crew who help both set up and take down the tables and chairs, and return chaos to order. They allow people to have a fun night out, to enjoy themselves – even during a horrid winter, and to celebrate life in this rich and diverse community. Thank you for making St. John Brebeuf a Great Parish to attend and raise a family in! Divine Mercy Sunday inspires us and begs us to go even further in our life of service and forces us to ask the ques-tions: Who do we know, or whom have we heard or read about that needs our help, our kindness, our time, our money, our love – today? How can I be a “game chang-er” right here at St. John Brebeuf Parish? If God's mercy and the example of these great saints of our day don't propel us into action, what will? Pray that our lives may be light to the nations, enabling God's salvation to reach the ends of the earth! Fr. Mike Meany

Fr. Mike Meany

Leadership Meeting April 16, 2018 Please mark your calendar for an important gathering of all

parishioners that will be held on Monday, April 16, at 7 p.m. in the Father May Ministry Center. The Parish Pastoral Council will follow-up to the Social Justice questions presented at the Fall Leadership Meet-ing. Will be discussing the latest information regarding Renew My Church and the relationships that we are fostering with our grouping parishes. Will also be pre-senting the progress that has been made with efforts to enhance the Sunday Liturgies and to include more of the youth in our worship. Wine and cheese and other refreshments will be served. Please RSVP to the office. 847-966-8145

WE PRAY TOGETHER Did you know that the lyrics of our hymns and songs are actually beautiful prayers selected specifically for that Mass? That makes our hymnal your prayer book! If you are self-conscious about singing, participate by opening the hymnal and praying the text of the hymn as others sing. The Church encourages our full and active participation in the Holy Mass. When you sing, you encourage others to do the same. Please use the hymnal!

Not willing to let go of your marriage? Many couples continue to struggle in a

marriage, but are not willing to give up on each other. There is hope. Retrouvaille is a program designed to help struggling marriages regain their health. It helps a husband and a wife rediscover or re-awaken the love, trust and commitment that originally brought them together. The pro-gram is highly successful in saving hurting marriages, even bringing reconciliation to couples who have al-ready separated or divorced. Retrouvaille is a peer ministry of volunteer couples that can help you learn the tools of healthy communication, build intimacy and heal, just as they have done in their own marriages. For more information about an upcoming Retrouvaille Weekend program for couples, contact: Chris and Cathy Van Treese @ 224-534-9235 or visit our website: HelpOurMarriage.org

St. Joseph is the patron saint of workers, and the protector of family, two important aspects of our life today. The Catho-lic Woman’s Club honored this special feast day on Saturday, March 3 at Lone Tree Manor, in Niles. The guests shared a wonderful feast comprised of catered food, and special desserts; all while learning about the saint and spending quality time with those that matter most. Thank you to those that helped make this event a success; whether you chose to bake or attend the event, it was truly a great time had by all!

prepared will is a statement of faith, hope and love. Family, charities, and others in need will benefit from this, your final; act of material kindness. For the e week of April 8, 2018.

Pro-“choice” is no choice. Pro-choice is death to the baby, the family, and to the future of our nation!. Let us continue to pray daily: “Jesus, May and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion” Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen
