Dear Parents,

Thank you to the many families who attended our La Festa Artistica last Friday

evening. It was a fabulous night of fun and frivolity and was greatly enjoyed

by all. Thank you again to our staff and particularly to Leonie Richardson,

Helina Walker, Jody Banks and Sue Larson for their incredible organisation

and running of this event. (see photos further on in this newsletter)

WOW (Wear Orange Wednesday) Day this week was a great opportunity for

us to learn more about and support our local State Emergency Service (SES)

unit. Our children enjoyed seeing the SES truck and all the equipment on

board used to assist the public in a variety of emergency situations. Thank you

to Priscilla Grimme (mother of Celeste JRE and Pippa JNE) for organising this

opportunity for all students.

Next Wednesday evening (25th November) we are looking forward to our

twilight sports evening which will be held on our school oval commencing at

5:00 p.m. and concluding at 7:00 p.m. All children are asked to be at school

by 4:45 p.m. ready for a 5:00 p.m. start.

All interested parents are warmly invited to attend the Annual General

Meeting (AGM) of our School Advisory Board next Thursday 26th November at

7:00 p.m. in the staffroom. Part of the agenda will be to seek nominations for

the election of a new School Advisory Board for next year. So, if you would

like to contribute to the school in a valuable way, I would encourage you to

attend the AGM and nominate for one of the 6 vacant parent positions.

The season of Advent begins on Sunday 29th November (Sunday week). This 4

week period before Christmas asks us to reflect on our lives as we prepare

and wait in hope for the celebration of the birth of Jesus at Christmas. At Mass

each week during Advent, a special candle will be lit on the advent wreath

St Anne’s Parish Christmas Hamper

Appeal. Earlier this week, a notice regarding the St Anne's

Christmas Hamper appeal went home to all

families via the Tiqbiz App.

Please support this worthy project which will

hopefully enable some less fortunate members of

our community to have a better Christmas.

To the St Joachim’s Community, Each year the St Anne's Parish organises some

Christmas hampers to help the many families in the

Seaford / Carrum Downs area to have food to

celebrate Christmas.

We are encouraging all St Joachim's families to support this wonderful initiative. One of the distinguishing features of Catholic

education is the focus not only on providing quality

education, but also forming the student as a

person of compassion, faith, wisdom,

independence and self-conviction. This is

achieved by encouraging students to support

charities and to assist those who are

disadvantaged.

In order to offer our parish families a variety of celebratory foods we are suggesting that each grade level bring different items. Prep: Tea Bags, Shortbread & Baked Beans.

Grade 1: Tin of Fruit, Savoury Biscuits,

Nuts/Nibbles.

Grade 2: Custard, Fruit Mince Pies, Cereal.

Grade 3: Plum Pudding, Tin Vegetables, Pasta

& Sauces.

Grade 4: Soft drinks/Cordials, Lollies, Tins of

Tuna.

Grade 5: Tins of Ham, Christmas Cake,

Chips/Popcorn.

Grade 6: Long Life Milk, Coffee, Tins of soup,

Christmas Bon Bons.

Over the next couple of weeks, children can bring their donation items to their

classrooms where they will be collected by the

school leaders and boxed ready to be collected

by the parish volunteers.

We will need all donations to school by Thursday Dec 10. Thank you for your generous support in previous

years.

elected as School Vice-Captain for 2016.

There will be several other leadership roles offered,

however these positions will not be allocated until
