I wonder if you have been faithful and devoted in praying the Holy Rosary, in honour- ing the Blessed Mother thru this prayer. There are countless ways we can manifest our love to our ever-loving Mother Mary, and we can do one of them through the praying of the Rosary. The WORD of GOD in a NUTSHELL: In today‟s readings, the themes of discipleship and suffering that we have been pondering in recent weeks are again repeated. The „Suffering Servant‟ text of the 1st Reading tells of the prophet Isaiah minister- ing to the captives in Babylon and proclaiming a message that was not well re- ceived. The servant would be rejected and suffer because of it, but through his suf- ferings would „justify many‟. It foreshadows the fullness of servant-hood accepted by Jesus on our behalf. Through his suffering, he takes all our faults onto himself. In the 2nd Reading, Jesus the high priest replaces the human priest of the Temple. Jesus is both priest and victim, and though without sin, he is like us in every way. By his death and resurrection he justifies us in the sight of God, and the throne of grace and mercy is opened to all. We can call on him with great confidence whenever we need help, trusting that in his humanity, he knows all that we go through, including our temptations. The Gospel shows two disciples approaching this source of grace and mercy – but for their own personal gain rather than for loving service. It is the latter way that Jesus highlights as the true way, and the path he will walk as high priest. As in today‟s Psalm, we can offer our own prayer of praise in this way, which opens to us the gifts of mercy and grace. We can take solace in the desire of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Australia and the Holy Father to hear from us thru the Plenary Council 2020. Please have your say; let your voice be heard. What is your personal response: “What do you think God is asking of you in Australia at this time?” Sun 21/10 8:00am Mass 10:00am Family Mass 5:00pm Mass Mon 22/10 9:00am Mass / Rosary Tues 23/10 9:00am Mass / Rosary Wed 24/10 6:00pm Transfer of Bl Sac / Rosary 6:30pm Novena 7:00pm Mass 7:30pm Legion of Mary Thurs 25/10 9:00am Mass / Rosary Fri 26/10 9:00am Mass / Rosary Sat 27/10 4:00pm Confession 5:00pm Vigil Mass Cantors Wanted - St Mary’s Cathedral has three Masses every weekend led by a solo cantor.
