IMPORTANT NEWS REGARDING CONFIRMATION !
PROGRAM IN GRADE 9:!

and parents will be held on Sunday, June 10th in Fr. Fitzmaurice
Hall at St. Bernard Church at 6:30 pm. If your 8th grader plans
to make their Confirma*on at St. Jeanne Jugan Parish, it is !
important that you aEend this mee*ng.!
Confirma*on Mee*ng for all 8th grade CCD students and !
parents of Holy Family and St. Bernard CCD Programs will be
held on Monday, June 11th in Fr. Fitzmaurice Hall at St. Bernard
Church at 6:30 pm. If your 8th grader plans to make their !
Confirma*on at St. Jeanne Jugan Parish, it is important that you
aEend this mee*ng. All students entering the Confirmaon !
Program in 9th grade must have aended our CCD Program at
either Church, or provide wrien documentaon of aendance at
a different parish for their 8th grade year of instrucon. Please
contact the CCD Office at 8607457770 or 8607492993 if you
should have any ques*ons.!
REFLECT!In our modern *mes, symbol can seem to have lost its value.
The most recognizable "signs" are ones we see on the road or
the branding in adver*sements. The logos for major companies
don't do much more than perk our interest or disdain. They
surely don't deliver on their promises for our lives to be happier,
healthier, and easier. !
On this feast of Corpus Chris*, we hear the account of the Last
Supper. This was Passover, an ancient sign of the covenant of
Moses. The Hebrew people celebrated God's providen*al care
for His people. To the listening disciples, Jesus makes a very bold
claim. "This is my blood of the covenant." At the *me of the
first Passover the redemp*on of the Hebrew people from !
slavery to the Egyp*ans the blood of the sacrificial lamb was
spread on the lintels of the doorpost. Tomorrow, some of the
disciples would witness the blood of the new covenant spread
across the wood of the cross.!
Christ's Body and Blood are more than a sign. They are a !
sacrament. In the sacrament, the sign makes real what it !
signifies. More than ritual, a sacrament enacts truth of the !
covenantal love of God and His promise of fidelity. It's a promise
God keeps. The same bread and wine of that first Holy Thursday
liturgy becomes throughout the centuries and un*l the end of
*me the very Body and Blood of Christ. On this feast, we !
celebrate the unfailing covenantal love of our God. As you !
partake in the Eucharist today, and next Sunday, and the Sunday
aer that, remember that you receive neither a meaningless sign
nor an empty offer. You receive God Himself, as He fulfills His
promise to remain with us always.!

ENFIELD YOUTH SERVICES AND ST. BERNARD
SCHOOL COLLABORATE ON RADIO SHOW!
Enfield Youth Services' mission is to enhance posi*ve youth !
development, where youth, families, and community can grow together. One of the Youth Council's regular undertakings is
hos*ng a bimonthly radio show out of Asnuntuck Community College. According to their website, they "offer the best local
interviews and a synopsis of what's going on in the Town !of Enfield."!
They recently interviewed members of the St. Bernard School !community. Listeners were able to learn about what makes !St. Bernard School a special place; all about the many !extracurricular ac*vi*es offered, such as robo*cs, drama,!basketball, soccer, band, cras and more; the benefit of wearing a school uniform; the benefit of having kindergarten through 8th grade in one building; and financial aid, among other things. There is even music and public service announcements as part of
the show. One of the members of the Youth Council, and an alumna of St. Bernard School, Aurelie Barry, was just named as
Valedictorian of Enfield High School! !
To listen to a recording of the St. Bernard interview, go to the school website at sbsenfield.org and click on the link provided.
Normally, shows are broadcast on 107.7 FM (WACC.)!
!
(L to R): Vicki Mitchell (St. Bernard School), Rebekah Vick
(St. Bernard School), Josh Desjarlais (St. Bernard School),
Andrea Mashiak (Enfield Youth Services), Adam Rivers
(Opera'ons Manager, WACC), and Nadeen, Angelina, and
Wen Bing, all from the Youth Council.!
Rebekah Vick and Josh Desjarlais are happy to
answer ques'ons during the interview.!
A 'TEERIFIC' TIME AT ST. BERNARD SCHOOL
GOLF OPEN!
The 12th Annual St. Bernard School Golf Open was held at Twin
Hills Country Club in Longmeadow, MassachuseEs. 140 golfers
enjoyed a barbecue lunch, raffles, a silent auc*on and dinner, in
addi*on to the camaraderie and challenges of the golf course.
There were several "specialty holes," with a chance to win prizes
such as free braces, a spa, a year of free tui*on at the school,
golf clubs, and even a new car!!
The golf commiEee, headed by Kristen Frost, did a great job !
making this event a huge success, and they are very grateful to
all of the generous sponsors who contributed to this success.!
This year's Golf Open was dedicated to Michael Mongillo !
(1973 2018,) a steadfast supporter of SBS and a long*me player
in the tournament. He is sorely missed and remembered by the
school community.!

CANDY BAR SALE!!!
Our St. Jeanne Jugan Youth Group is having a candy bar sale on!June 9th and 10th aer all Masses at Holy Family Church and St.
Bernard Church to fundraise for their Steubenville trip. Why
should you buy a candy bar to help our Parish youth aEend the
Steubenville Youth Conference? The answer is “revealed” in this
year’s Steubenville Conference theme:!
REVEALED!
“In this way the love of God was revealed to us: God sent his only
Son into the world so that we might have life through him.” !1 John 4:9!
We live in a world where there are voices shoung at us from all
sides, trying to tell us who we are and who we aren’t, who we
should be and who we shouldn’t be. If we pay too much aenon
to these voices, it won’t be long before we forget our true !identy altogether.!
But amidst all the noise is our loving Father, who wants to make
Himself known to us and speak truth about who we are. God’s
love is deeper and His plan for our lives is greater than anything
the world has to offer will we allow Him to reveal it to us?!
This summer, over 50,000 Catholic teens across North America
will parcipate in 25 Steubenville Youth Conferences, and we
want you to be one of them! Come experience the love of God in
a new and more profound way. He has so much in store for you.!
Let’s help our Youth Group experience the love and revela*on !of God!!
