Chair’s Welcome

We are delighted to welcome you to the International Conference on ”Challenges & Opportunities inEconomics, Management and Multidisciplinary Social Sciences Perspective”, taking place in ”Dubai,UAE”, from ”16-17 March”.Education, in our contemporary world, is a right since we are born. Every experience has a for-mative effect on the constitution of the human being, in the way one thinks, feels and acts. Oneof the most important contributions resides in what and how we learn through the improvement ofeducational processes, both in formal and informal settings. Our International Conference seeksto provide some answers and explore the processes, actions, challenges and outcomes of learning, teaching and human development. Our goal is to offer a worldwide connection between teachers, students, researchers and lecturers, from a wide range of academic fields, interested in exploringand giving their contribution in the field of research. We take pride in having been able to connectand bring together academics, scholars, practitioners and others interested in a field that is fertilein new perspectives, ideas and knowledge. We counted on an extensive variety of contributors andpresenters, which can supplement our view of the human essence and behavior, showing the impactof their different personal, academic and cultural experiences. This is, certainly, one of the reasonswe have many nationalities and cultures represented, inspiring multi-disciplinary collaborative links, fomenting intellectual encounter and development.

We would like to express thanks to all the authors and participants, the members of the academicscientific committee, our media partners and, of course, to our organizing and administration teamfor making and putting this conference together.Hoping to continue the collaboration in the future.

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was an exceptional and versatile persona of India. Being a great academician, scholar, well-known economist, a political leader, and versatile a philosopher, and a great humani-tarian. He is the only one the man who understood the need for a democratic system in India. Hemainly understood the problems and requirements of Indians which can be satisfied by developing ademocratic method in India. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar has included many provisions on the burning issueslike discrimination, atrocities, women and its laws. The principle of gender equality as an opportu-nity is preserved in the Indian Constitution in its preamble itself. The Constitution not only permitsequal treatment to women, but it also authorizes the State to accept actions in favor of women. Theframework of a democratic policy, laws, plans and many programs have meant for womens progressin varied spheres of life. Indian constitution has also ratified different international traditions andhuman rights to achieve equal rights for women. Constitutional and Legal provisions, Special Initia-tives for women includes many Indian Penal Codes dealing with serious actions in favor of women.

National Culture and Regional Mindset Toward Design Components of BuiltEnvironments Identity

Reza Moosav1*, Prof. Shanthi Balraj Baboo2

A combination of pictorial, graphics, written and spatial signals form wayfinding signage in an airport.Signage system is the prime informational media to assist pedestrians and vehicles traffic to fulfilltheir navigating inquiries and reach their destinations. However different people with vary national-ities with different cultures perceive the information in different ways or at least they have differentexpectations towards it. The aim of this paper is to find the relationship between passengers culturesand their expectations about airport signage system. Culture implies in different levels and one of theimportant one is the national level. Hofstede believes that people with the same nationality have moreor less the same culture. He described differences in national culture with five dimensions; Individ-ualism, Uncertainty Avoidance, Masculinity, Power Distance, and Long Term Orientation. His modelhas been widely used in various disciplines, especially in cross-cultural studies in social science andmanagement. In order to reach to the objective of this study, semi-structured in-depth interview wasconducted by interviewing international passengers in Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).Questions were in the area of travelers perception towards tourism signage in the mentioned airport. The result shows that passengers with the same culture have almost the same opinion about thesignage. Moreover, their national culture influences their perception towards the airport signage.

Digital and Parametric design in Residential and Urban Architecture Bridgingthe gap between Theory and Practice

Tony Owen*

There is an increasing awareness that the circumstances of the planet are changing. Increased pop-ulation has led to increased density, whilst space is becoming increasingly limited. At the same time, resources are becoming scarcer and global climate is impacting on the biosphere. The net result isthat the entire circumstance of the built environment is changing. It used to be that limiting mans im-pact on the environment and setting sustainable goals was sufficient. These days this is not enough, and we need to envisage a built environment that makes a positive contribution to the ecosystem.Meanwhile changes have also occurred which have resulted in new technologies and new tools toaddress these issues. Future technologies in architecture will include buildings which are more effi-cient and more responsive. These innovations are occurring at a micro level. This includes the use ofnew composite materials and nano structures which are lighter and which require less materials andless embodied energy. It will include translucent materials which afford privacy whilst maximisingthe transmission of light and ventilation. It will include bio-facades which contain photosyntheticmaterial which store and generate energy. It will also involve new structural paradigms and orderingnetworks such as lattices and weaves to distribute loads more evenly through the entire network. These networks allow light and weak materials to create strong structures. Thus structures can bedesigned to micro changes in point loads, or they can be distributed more efficiently across complexand responsive surfaces. These developments will result in buildings which are ultimately, not justsustainable, but self-sufficient as well.

Evaluating the Influence on urban Heat Island Phenomena in summer fromJapanese Style Traditional Residential Houses with Outdoor Living Space in

Taiwan

Liu Yiwei*, Masahito Takata2, Makihiko Tsujihara3

Nowadays, cities in modern Southeast and East Asia, heat island phenomena and hot summer nighthave become serious. As surface temperature is one of the main factors of heat island phenomena,it is of vital importance to understand the influence of spatial structure and materials for designingresidential houses with little influence on urban heat island phenomena. In general, one of the bestway to understand the architectural design, which made the most of local climate, is analyzing localtraditional architecture.Furthermore, focusing on a traditional architecture, which was built in otherdifferent climate, is more useful to understand the adaptation on the local climate by residents. Inthis study, town blocks of Japanese style traditional residential houses in Hualien Sugar Factory,Taiwan, was focused to acquire some clue to understand the relation and adaptation on local en-vironment and prevent heat island phenomena in East Asia. The blocks are the only existing withJapanese style traditional houses including surroundings. Consulting related studies, it was madesure that reproducing the distribution of surface temperature using numerical simulation was thebest way to evaluate the influence of summer thermal environment. Firstly, 3D-CAD models of targetsite, database of thermal properties for materials, and local weather data in summer were collected.Secondly, distribution of surface temperature in the target site was calculated by using the numericalsimulation. Finally, it was made sure that architectural design in the traditional Japanese housesmitigate the thermal influence towards surroundings in summer in Taiwan.

Piezoelectric Sol-Gel Films Modified with Poly(vinylpyrrolidone) for EnergyHarvesting

Myunghwan Byun*

Crack-free, yet thick P0.92L0.08Z0.65T0.35 films were achieved by single-step, non-repetitive spin-coating of PLZT sol-gels containing poly (vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP). Incorporation of PVP into the precur-sor solution could be beneficial for prohibiting cracks during condensation reaction of the spin-castgel film and controlling the film thickness. Intensive characterization of the resulting films was madeusing XRD, Raman, and SEM, confirming internal microstructures, crystallographic directions, sur-face roughness, and crystallite size. Such dense and crack-free PLZT films (thickness ranging from500 nm to 3 m) were successfully applied for fabricating flexible piezoelectric nanogenerators. Vary-ing the film thickness allowed us to investigate device performance (i.e., output voltage and current)according to different degrees of radius curvatures. This study can be further extended to prepareother crack-free, dense piezoelectric films and fabricate the devices.

Planning a Childcare Facility Based on Biophilc Design

Sung Jun Park*

This paper stresses the planning factors and elements associated with the characteristics of biophilicdesign and patterns applied within a childcare facility. Planning the environment of a growth anddevelopment center for children is a significant issue that needs to be continuously studied; espe-cially when considering factors such as aging and low birth rate. The attempt to improve the lack ofchildcare support function is one of the main causes of low birth rates today and urgently needs tobe resolved. The environment of childcare facilities need to be planned according to biophilic design, which uses natural elements to promote the physical, cognitive, and social development of children.Natures positive effect on children has been asserted through previous studies. The process, however,of research through the systematic integration of children and nature in the environment and spaceis presently insufficient. Therefore, this study aims to deduce the planning elements of the childcarefacility based on biophilic design. The method of study is as follows: First, positive impacts of natureand concept of biophilic design elements, and patterns are established through a literature survey.Second, 20 case studies of childcare facilities in Japan are analyzed, thereby deriving the planningfactors based on biophilic design patterns. Finally, the direction of planning a childcare facility basedon biophilic design is discussed. Consequently, nine biophilic design patterns and 40 detailed plan-ning characteristics were derived. The space design of a childcare facility based on biophilic design, which utilizes natural elements, actively creates an open environment where it is easy to observe, view, and monitor children. It is especially necessary to consider space design that can induce vari-ous visual and non-visual experiences in children through the secured viewing of a natural ecosystem.
