The Most Holy Trinity June 7, 2020

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, This Sunday is a special day in which we honor the Most Holy Trinity. The Church teaches that the Holy Trinity is the community of divine persons who loves and saves us all. The mystery of the Trinity calls us to move beyond ourselves and into a deeper relationship with God through Jesus Christ. The Trinitarian grace that we receive of grace, love and fellowship allows us to move beyond our own lives to think of the lives of others. When God shares his divine life with us, then he is calling us to spread the good news of the Gospel in order for others to know this life as well. Next weekend, June 13th and 14th, there will be the Archdiocese annual Corpus Christi collection for the support of the men studying for the Priesthood for our Archdiocese. I will encourage everyone to please be generous in supporting our seminarians. Our Archdiocesan seminarians study not only at St. Mary’s seminary here in Houston, but also in seminaries in Dallas and San Antonio, Texas, St. Benedict, Louisiana and Rome. This Sunday’s ENTIRE church collection this day goes towards the costs associated with the operating of St. Mary’s Seminary as well as the expenses of the education of seminarians, the continuing education of priests and the training of permanent deacons and laity. Thank you for your generosity. The celebration of the sacraments, with a congregation, has now resumed. In keeping with the directives issued by Cardinal DiNardo, and in accordance with national, state and local mandates, St. Hyacinth will resume liturgical celebrations in the following manner: • Dispensation from Sunday obligation to attend in person is extended through May, especially with respect to people who may be considered physically well to attend yet believe it best to stay at home.

• The at-risk populations are encouraged to continue participating by tuning in to the livestreamed Mass from their homes and avoid attending Mass in person. At-risk popula-tion is defined as those who are 65 years or older, those with chronic lung disease; moder-ate to severe asthma; chronic heart disease; severe obesity; diabetes; chronic kidney disease

undergoing dialysis; or weakened immune system.

• Parishioners are asked to take their temperatures before coming to Mass and should not attend, if exhibiting any signs of illness or an elevated body temperature.

• In order to accommodate social distancing protocols, and to abide by Phase One state regulations, no more than 25% of the mandated fire code seating capacity of the building is allowed. Therefore, each Mass at St. Hyacinth will be limited to no more than 100 people.

• Church doors will be open for 15 minutes before Mass is to begin. Church doors will open Saturday 4:45 pm, Sunday 7:45 am, 9:45 am and 11:45 am. Please stay in your cars until the doors are open for the Church.

• The Church Narthex will serve as the ONLY entrance to the Church. Enter Narthex doors from either the Center Street parking lot or the P street parking lot.

• Parishioners are required to wear masks, upon entering the church and throughout the celebration of the Mass.

• For the safety of all, the Holy Water fonts and Holy Water tank will remain empty, the exchange of the Sign of Peace, the distribution of the Precious Blood and the offertory procession will be omitted and missalettes and hymnals will not be available.

• Parishioners should be careful not to gather too closely when entering or leaving the church.

• Hand sanitizers will be available and easily visible at the church entrances.

• Social distancing will be practiced and enforced.

• Parishioners will be seated in every other pew.

• Those of the same household can be seated in the same pew.

• Priest will wear masks during the distribution of Holy Communion.

• The congregation will remain in their pews for the distribution of Holy Communion, which prevents the formation of a Communion line.

• For health and safety reasons, parishioners are asked to receive Holy Communion in the hand.

• The church will be closed for sanitation between Masses. Pews and bathrooms will be sanitized thoroughly between Masses.

• The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be celebrated Tuesday thru Friday after the 8:00 am morning Mass. Saturday between 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Penitents are asked to wear masks and utilize the screen, in order to avoid face-to-face confessions. While in the confession line, penitents are asked to practice social distancing.

With the Coronavirus affecting every aspect of the Church, I want to challenge everyone to continue to support the Church during this time. I ask the faithful to continue to support the St. Hyacinth community through on-line giving or by mail. This will ensure that our parish will be able to meet payrolls and pay monthly bills. Go to online giving tab at Sthyacinth.org and either enroll online at www.faithdirect.net, our Church Code is TX526, or give online through PayPal, Text to Give or simply mail in your contribution into the Church. Thank you for your support.

Finally, we want to congratulate all of the recent high school and college graduates of our parish and community.

God Bless, Fr. Reginald Samuels

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me.”

Reading 1 Ex 34:4b–6, 8–9 Early in the morning Moses went up Mount Sinai as the LORD had commanded him, taking along the two stone tablets. Having come down in a cloud, the LORD stood with Mo-ses there and proclaimed his name, “LORD.” Thus the LORD passed before him and cried out, “The LORD, the LORD, a merciful and gracious God, slow to anger and rich in kindness and fidelity.” Moses at once bowed down to the ground in worship. Then he said, “If I find favor with you, O LORD, do come along in our company. This is indeed a stiff-necked people; yet pardon our wickedness and sins, and receive us as your own.” Responsorial Psalm Dn 3:52, 53, 54, 55, 56 R. (52b) Glory and praise for ever! Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of our fathers, praiseworthy and exalted above all forever; And blessed is your holy and glorious name, praiseworthy and exalted above all for all ages. R. Glory and praise for ever! Blessed are you in the temple of your holy glory, praiseworthy and glorious above all forever. R. Glory and praise for ever! Blessed are you on the throne of your kingdom, praiseworthy and exalted above all forever. R. Glory and praise for ever!

Blessed are you who look into the depths from your throne upon the cherubim, praiseworthy and exalted above all forever. R. Glory and praise for ever! Reading 2 2 Cor 13:11–13 Brothers and sisters, rejoice. Mend your ways, encourage one another, agree with one another, live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you. Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the holy ones greet you. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with all of you. Gospel Jn 3:16–18 God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him will not be condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

A prayer for Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy

Sacrament. I love you above all things and I desire to receive you in my soul. Since I cannot at this moment

receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself

wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated

from you. Amen.

PRAYER IN A TIME OF PANDEMIC

O God of compassion, your people are anxious in this time of pandemic.

Send your Holy Spirit among us to dispel our fears.

We cry out to you in our confusion;

comfort us in our affliction. Grant our leaders wisdom to

guide us. Strengthen and sustain those

who are ill, and be with those who care for

them. Help us to travel this road

in solidarity with our neighbors, with our eyes fixed

on the salvation promised us through the death

and resurrection of your Son,

who is Lord forever and ever. Amen.

THE MIRACLE PRAYER TO SAINT ANTHONY OF PADUA O Holy St Anthony, the gentlest and kindest of Saints, your burning

love of God, your exalted virtue, and your great charity towards your fellow creatures, made you worthy, when on earth to possess miraculous powers such as were given to no other saint.

Miracle waited on your word, and that word you were ever ready to speak at the request of those in trouble.

The anxious prayer of bitter trial was never addressed to you in vain. To the sick you gave back health; you restored what was lost; the sor-

row stricken were the objects of your tender compassion; even the dead you raised to life when the wounded heart cried out to you from the depths of its bitter anguish.

When on earth nothing was impossible with you, except not to have compassion on those in distress and sorrow.

Encouraged by this thought, and convinced of the efficacy of your holy intercession, we kneel before your holy image, and full of confidence, we implore you to obtain for us (here mention your request).

The answer to this our prayer may require a miracle. Even so, are you not the Saint of Miracles, who, when on earth, had but to speak the mighti-est wonders were wrought!

O gentle and loving St Anthony, you whose heart was ever full of hu-man sympathy, whispers our prayer into the ears of the Infant Jesus, who loved to linger in your arms.

One word from you and our prayer will be granted. O, speak but that word and the gratitude of our heart will ever be yours!

Amen. Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory be.
