Mission Statement
The Mission of St. Helena’s and St. Mary’s parish is to use the closeness of our community to promote the proclamation of the Good News, the beauty and richness of celebration, and the sharing of ourselves in service to God’s people. Believing in the equality of all within Christ’s family, we strive to have all people find their ministry in the church. We realize the importance of religious education to all members of the parish in helping them answer the call of Christ, to grow as ministers to our own Parish and to the world community.

From the La Salette Shrine Director's Desk
In the month of November we often put attention on the importance of praying for our faithful departed because of November 2nd, All Soul's Day. However I suggest we also think more frequently of imitating the saints in the integrity of their lives because of November 1st, All Saints' Day.
In the gospel today Jesus clearly states: "See that you not be deceived, for many will come in my name, saying, 'I am he' and 'the time has come'. Do not follow them." The saints are people who direct our attention to Jesus and not to themselves. There is such a humble spirit about them, which simply means they live the truth. There is an integrity that characterizes their lives in which they show the Christian life is not easy to live but it is worth all the sacrifices we make to live it. Jesus goes on to say: "and they will have you led before kings and governors because of my name. It will lead to your giving testimony." It is clear that our Church is often persecuted in today's society because of the values we hold so special like the sanctity of life from the moment of conception, the dignity of the person as above the quest of monetary gain, or the importance of stability in marriage in times of crisis when divorce seems like such as easy choice. Our Holy Father, Pope Francis, challenges us to be aware, not to accept a "throwaway society." Our "giving testimony" by the example of our lives can have good effects far beyond what we imagine. That is why I am also drawn by the words of Saint Paul to the Thessalonians: "Brothers and sisters: you know how one must imitate us. For we did not act in a disorderly way among you……. in toil and drudgery, night and day we worked, so as not to burden any of you." You have probably heard the expression: "Example is very contagious, whether it be for good or for bad." I encourage you in this month of November to honor the memory of our beloved departed by reflecting on their lives to see what we can learn from them. But let us also pray with the testimony of so many saints who can truly help us to follow Jesus, Our Savior and our closest friend. Father John Sullivan M.S.
