The Ascension of the Lord May 24, 2020

St. Gerard Majella parishioners. May the Lord bless and protect you in this most difficult time. The priests of our parish have been offering their private Masses for the weekly Mass intentions of each week.

We have continued to run the parish office and the Food Bank, although the office itself is closed.

Please do not forget to send in your weekly donation as the priests need our financial support and we must still pay the bills.

Many people have asked where can they send in their weekly donation? 1. It can be dropped in the mail slot at the rectory. 2. You can donate on line through our website stgerardla.com just click the Donate tab and you can

donate by check or credit card. 3. You can mail it in to the rectory office 4439 Inglewood Blvd. Los Angeles , CA 90066 4. You can have your bank send it automatically from your account.. As you all know the weekly collections have stopped and they are much needed for paying the bills etc. We are most grateful to those who have continued to send in their weekly donation. donations and ask that those who can please do so.

LITURGICAL ACCOMODATIONS DURING THE SUSPENSION OF THE PUBLIC CELEBRATION OF MASS

DUE TO COVID-19 HEALTH THREAT

and Chaplet of Mercy. Mass • The public celebration of Mass has been suspended in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles

effective March 17, 2020 until May 15, 2020 or otherwise extended. Churches are to remain closed by order of Governor of California and Archbishop Jose Gomez until further notice.

• Parishes are invited to inform their parishioners of opportunities to view Mass via

livestream. The weekly and Sunday Mass will be livestreamed from the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels via the LA Catholics Facebook page (facebook.com/lacatholics)

EWTN also has Mass at 5am, 9am, 4pm, and 9pm PST. For more information on additional Mass broadcasts on TV and radio, visit lacatholics.org/emergency. • We encourage the faithful to keep the Lord’s Day holy. Some ways to do this include :

reading the Gospels, praying with your families, and to joining yourself to the sacrifice of the Mass by making an act of Spiritual communion.

Baptism • Unless an emergency, the celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism is to be postponed. Marriage • Weddings are to be limited to celebration of the Marriage Rite itself and must be limited to

a total of 10 people, including ministers. Funerals • Funerals may take place only in the form of “The Rite of Committal with

Final Commendation” (also known as the “graveside”) if desired by the family, a memorial Mass can be scheduled appropriately at a later date.

• It is recommended that pastors notify family members who have already scheduled funeral

Masses.
