MARRIAGE PREPARATION CLASSES Are you planning to celebrate the sacrament of Holy Matrimony? As a couple are you wanting to prepare spiritually, emotionally and mentally for this amazing sacrament? Then come join other couples for 7 wonderful sessions based on St. John Paul II’s The-ology of the Body. The sessions are being offered through the Diocesan Office of Marriage and Family Life in partnership with local parishes. Cost is $25 per couple for class materials. Classes will be held at the Pastoral Center, 1280 Med Park Drive, for seven Mondays beginning February 3rd from 6-8:30 pm. Register online at www.rcdlc.org/class. Couples completing this course will fulfill partial requirement for marriage preparation at St. Genevieve.

Father Theo Returns Thank You to Our Clergy

Father Theo will return to St. Genevieve’s on February 6th we are so very grateful to Monsignor Juan Moreno, Deacon Lou, Deacon Steve and Deacon Jim and all the dedicated priests that came to celebrate masses and assist with confessions during Father Theo’s absence. It certainly was a challenge at times, but we made it through with the grace of God. Thank you to our parishioners for your prayers and patience. Please continue to pray for our parish and our clergy.

St. Genevieve Knights of Columbus Council 13969 Free Throw Championship

The St. Genevieve Knights of Columbus Council 13969 invites all boys and girls ages 9 to 14 to their Free Throw Championship on Sunday, February 9th at Holy Cross School Gym, 1331 N. Miran-da. Registration is from 12:30 pm –1:15 pm and competition starts at 1:30 pm. Age eligibility is determined by the age of the contest-ant as of January 1. Proof of age and written parental consent is required. This is a free event for boys and girls. To pre-register or for more information, contact Jaime Flores 575-993-8634.

Feast of St. Blaise & Blessing of Throats Monday, February 3, 2020

On Monday, February 3, we celebrate the Feast Day of St. Blaise, Bishop and Martyr. We will have the Blessing of Throats follow-ing the 7:00 a.m. morning Mass/Communion Service. “The bless-ing of throats, invoking the intercession of St. Blaise, has become a very popular devotion. On his way to prison, a distracted mother whose child was suffering from a disease of the throat implored his aid. At his intercession the child was cured, and since that time his aid has often been solicited in cases of a similar disease.” “The priest in giving the blessing of St. Blaise holds two candles in the form of a cross touching the throat, and prays that through the merits and intercession of St. Blaise the person blessed may be delivered from throat diseases and from every other evil.”—from Lives of the Saints, Catholic Book Publishing Co., NY.

St. Genevieve Parish Receives Rebate from 2019 United In Ministry Campaign

On Friday, January 17, Bishop Peter Baldacchino presented our parish administrator, Maggie Candia, and parishioner, Martha Garcia with the rebate earned from the 2019 United in Ministry Campaign. Rebates were presented at the 2020 UIM Campaign Mass which was held at the Cathedral of Immaculate Heart of Mary. St. Genevieve’s Parish was blessed to received $28,865.81. These funds will be used towards replacing our camera security system and to replace the tile on the porches at the parish hall. Thank you to all who supported the 2019 United in Ministry Campaign through pledges and our various fundrais-ers. Because of your generosity, these improvements and repairs are able to be funded.

A Letter from Monsignor Juan Moreno Greetings my Dear Parishioners, I Monsignor Juan Moreno would like to inform you all about my current state of health. I had a small accident and hurt my head causing for some fluid and blood to leak in my brain that since then has caused me to lose strength in my body and memory loss. I believe that in a few weeks I should be better. For now, God has given me the mission of Staying home, looking after the Church and small services. I pray for all the world, I pray the holy Rosary, I Celebrate Mass daily, in my home. Praying the holy Mass in a very special way for the Community. I believe that this is what God wants me to do. Thank you for your prayers and all the efforts you all have made for me. God bless you always, Msgr, Juan Moreno
