From the desk of Father James
In the Spirit of St. Francis…
In the Spirit of St. Francis ...THANK YOU!
L ast Sunday in our Church we celebrated the conclusion of the Easter Season with the Solemnity of Pentecost and this past week we have returned to Ordinary Time. Yet this week we will not see the green vestments return, nor
will we see them next week. This week we celebrate the solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity and next week we celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi. These two feasts fall on the Sundays following Pentecost. We celebrate the Most Holy Trinity recognizing that God is indeed three distinct persons even though they are a part of the one true God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Corpus Christi recognizes the importance of the gift of the Body and Blood of Jesus. May the blessed and Holy Trinity watch over us and keep us safe as we embark on this next stage of our Liturgical Year! I also want to take a moment to thank everyone that made last weekend an amazing weekend for our young people. Last week on Saturday we celebrated 1st Holy Communion for 38 of our parish second graders and then we had 22 high school students receive the sacrament of Confirmation from Archbishop Emeritus John Vlazny. I want to thank Violet Wanner, Rachel Morrow and all the catechists that worked so hard to prepare our kids for this past weekend as they took a further step into full initiation in the Church. I also want to thank all of the parents as well for making sure that your children received these sacraments that will help them so much as they continue to grow and live out their faith as young people in our world. It is important to have this supernatural grace to help them keep to the path Jesus has set them on in our often times difficult and dark world!
To everyone who helped with set-up, serving and clean-up and those who shared the delicious food for the Carolyn Becker funeral dinner.
To Melanie Battilega, Megan Allen, Tressa Foster, Colleen Jeffrey, Jackie Steele, Sara Wolfe, and Amy Cookson for helping with the First Communion Mass.
To the St. Francis School PSO for hosting the First Communion reception.
To Verna Hilburger for the beautiful angel keepsakes she made for First Communion.
To the Confirmation team, Rachel Morrow, David Castronovo, Robert Gonzalez, Jerry Grondin, and Debbie Puchalski, for their dedication and preparing this year's Confirmandi.
To Josie Wiren, Melanie Battilega, the Confirmation team and Amy Cookson for helping with the Confirmation Mass.
To Katrina & Charon Plumley and Carol Marks for hosting the Confirmation reception.
To Steve & Yvonne Holthouse and Dave Cookson for graciously and generously stepping up on very short notice to host one of the coffee socials last weekend.

“The truth is the truth, accessed through philosophy, science and reason, as well as divine revelation. Science and reason inform the teachings of the Church, just as the teachings of the Church further explain what science and reason points to about the human person and our shared destiny. I think the more we explain this to those that only see the Church as another religious institution, and the more we joyfully and persuasively share these truths about the human person, God, and the purpose of our lives, more and more souls will be drawn to the Church.” - Lila Rose, Founder of Live Action
Respect Life
Catholic Corner
Which are some of the chief duties of today’s Catholics? 5) To strengthen and support the Church:
one’s own parish community and parish priests; the worldwide Church and the Holy Father.
6) To do penance, including abstaining from meat and fasting from food on the appointed days.
7) To join in the missionary spirit and apostolate of the Church (cf. “Basic Teachings,” US Bishops).
St. Paul Family Catechism.
Next week: Is it a grave obligation to go to Mass on Sundays and on holy days of obligation?
Sacramental News
May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen
Parishioner, Carolyn Becker died on May 5. Her funeral was on May 18.
