Dear Parishioners,

I am so happy to see so many people coming to the church for Sunday Masses. It is so good to see the faces I have not seen for an awfully long time. With the cup of 100 people per Mass I notice that some people are booking the seat every week for all members of the family, and on the day there are no people attending or a much smaller number than seats reserved. That creates a lot of stress and unnecessary work for our marshals. Please plan and make sure that all of you are attending and book only if you are 100% committed to attend the Mass. Of course, there is a possibility, that someone is not well. In that case please do not come to the church. We do not want to pass the flu or covid19 to others in our church. Please come to the church at least 15 minutes before the start of the Mass.

May God bless you all.

Please consider using the Parish Giving App to support our Parish financially. For detailed instructions on how to set up the app, go to:

10. REFLECTION - by Dianne Bergant CSA - Two themes seem to weave through the read-ings for this Sunday: treasure and delight. The treasure is the extraordinary gift that comes from God; the delight is the joy that we experience when we realise that the treasure is ours. A third theme, which is found in the first reading, picks up a theme that we have considered several times during this period of Ordinary Time, namely, service of others. The treasure is the kingdom of heaven. It is the prize that gives meaning to the present, and its fullest delight draws us into the future. The reign of God is the fulfilment of our deepest de-sires and our fondest hopes. Nothing in the world can compare with it, and that is why we are willing to sacrifice everything to attain it. The treasure that we find is really a gift that is given. We need not work to attain the kingdom, nor can we earn it in any way. It is given to us by God. All we have to do is accept it. Solomon chose to be of service to others. In this he is a model for disciples to follow. We have discovered the treasure in the field; we have found the pearl of great price. What we have been given, we must now give to others. In giving we will lose nothing. In fact, we gain an abun-dance of blessings. All things work for good, and God is glorified in all. Such is the character of the kingdom of God.

PRAYER IN THIS TIME OF CRISIS

Almighty and all-merciful God, lover of the human race, healer of all our wounds, in whom there is no shadow of death, save us in this time of crisis; grant wisdom and courage to our leaders; watch over all medical people as they tend the sick and work for a cure; stir in us a sense of solidarity beyond all isolation; if our doors are closed, let our hearts be open. By the power of your love destroy the virus of fear, that hope may never die and the light of Easter, the triumph of life, may shine upon us and the whole world. Through Jesus Christ, the Lord risen from the dead, who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen. Holy Mary, health of the sick, pray for us. St Joseph, guardian of us all, pray for us.

Matthew Ch 13

Over the last few weeks we have now heard Matthew Chapter 13 almost in its entirety. We heard first the parable of the sower then last week three short parables about weeds amongst the wheat, the mustard seed growing into a great tree and leaven in the flour. Finally, today we have had these addi-tional pithy parables. The entire chap-ter seeks to paint metaphoric images of the kingdom. Woven through these images is a suggestion that the king-dom is open to all – all are presented with the invitation – but not everyone will accept that invitation or respond to it in the same way. © Creative Ministry Resources Pty

Ecumenical Prayer from the National Council of Churches Gracious God, We give thanks anew for your providence and presence. We prayerfully seek your grace, amidst COVID-19 here and overseas. We pray for those in need of healing. We pray for your peace with those who are anxious or grieving. We pray you will continue to strengthen and sustain all those who are serving in response. We pray for your Holy Spirit’s discernment amidst the many choices and decisions facing our national, community and medical leaders. We pray we each might see quickly what more we can do to help those who are vulnerable. This prayer for our nation in the family of nations, with all that is on our hearts,

we gather now and pray through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
