A few words of interest from Fr. Fitzgerald: Thank you to all who have contributed to the Saint Columbkille Parish Grand Annual Collec-tion Opportunity to contribute to our collection con-tinues. You may put your contribution into any week-end collection, mail it to the parish office or drop it off at the parish office. If you did not receive a mail-ing, you may pick up one in the racks at the entrances of the church. The grand annual collection is the larg-est single source of revenue for the parish. High school group ("Homework Help & Pizza") A special program for high school students will begin in February. Fr. Chris Bae and a group of young adults will provide tutoring services to high school students on some Sunday afternoons along with faith formation. The first session will be at the St. Columbkille Partnership School Cafeteria between 3:15 pm - 4:45 pm on Feb 23. Other dates are Mar 15, Mar 29, Apr 26, May 3, and May 17. To register your child for this program, please contact Carmen Kapishnikov ([email protected]). _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

St. Columbkille's Young Adult Commission We are a group of young adults (ages 21-40) who get together for social, spiritual, and service events every month. Interested in learning more? Sign-up for our mailing list by emailing us at [email protected]! Come join the YAC Service Committee at the Allston-Brighton Food Pantry from 9:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, February 8th. A small group of volunteers (we have to cap the group at six) is invited to assist with the distribution of food baskets to food-insecure members of our community. The food pantry is located right here in the center of Brighton, at the Allston-Brighton Congregational Church, 404 Washington Street. We will meet in front of Saint Columbkille's Church at 9:30 a.m. and then walk up the street to the Congregational Church. The YAC volunteered with the A.B. Food Pantry twice last year, most recently at Thanksgiving, and had wonderful experiences both times. Pastor Mark and his team run a smooth operation that makes volunteering accessible and satisfying. Serve with us: you will both bless and be blessed. Volunteers are asked truly to commit -- we need to be able to give the Pantry our exact number -- and to stay at least until noon. An RSVP by Thursday, 2/6, is required. Please RSVP by emailing Daniel Orazio at [email protected].

Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

The Catholic Daughters will be collecting the “Pennies for the Unborn” on the weekend of February 1/2. In December The Massachusetts

State Board of the Catholic Daugh-ters of the Americas presented Cardi-nal Sean O’Malley with a check for $10,000.00 for the Pro-Life Office. Your generosity helped to make this possible. Over the past 20 years the

Catholic Daughters have contributed over $150,000.00 to help families in crisis pregnancies. Thank you for your continued support. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The St. Columbkille Women’s Sodality will not meet in January or February. The next meeting will be Wednesday, March 18 at 7:00 pm in the rectory. All women of the parish are welcome to come and pray for the needs of the Parish and at-tend Adoration. Refreshments are served follow-ing the Litany of Loreto. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Do you need help around the house? Maybe with shoveling snow, painting a small room, or boxing items for mailing or donation? If so, the Service Committee of the Saint Columbkille's Young Adult Commission would like to help. We invite members of the parish to contact us about small jobs around their homes that they can't get done on their own and would appreciate a hand with. The kind of job that we have in mind is one that would take one or two volunteers no more than two hours to complete. This service is being offered for free, and time and volunteers are lim-ited, so we ask that parishioners be thoughtful about their needs. Please contact us with your ad-dress and details of what you need help with, ei-ther by calling the parish secretary, Patricia McShane (617-782-5774), or by emailing Arika Henry at [email protected]. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
