The action of the Communion procession is manifested and supported by the Communion Chant, a hymn in praise of Christ sung by the united voices of those who believe in him and share his life. The General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM) takes this hymn very seriously, mandating that it should begin at the Communion of the priest and extend until the last person has received Communion.
This singing of the hymn should not be an intrusion of the communicants own prayer. In fact this hymn should be joined in by all communicants, united as the members of the Body of Christ. The GIRM describes the purpose of the communion chant (hymn) as expression of the spiritual union of the communicants by means of the unity of their voices, to show gladness of heart, and to bring out more clearly the ‘communitarian’ character of the procession to receive the Eucharist.
Baptism has joined us to Christ, and to one another, as the vine and its branches. The life of Christ, the Holy Spirit, animates each of us individually, and all of us corporately and guides us together in our efforts to become one in Christ.
So let us sing joyfully and prayerfully!!!

Readings for the Week
Religious Articles from the Holy Land: Original Olive Wood Handicra"s from Bethlehem Nativity Sets – Creches – Rosaries – Statuettes – Christmas Ornaments – Home, O!ice and Church DécorFrom Bethlehem in the Holy Land, The Bannoura family of
Bethlehem Handicra"s imports products from the Christian
community of Bethlehem. They are pleased to share their
family story and trade to all those who will be present a"er all
Masses the weekend of May 26 and 27. As Joseph taught Christ the trade of carpentry in Nazareth, the
Bannoura family passed the trade of olive wood artisanship
from generation to generation until the present. They take great
pride in this distinct and traditional cra", which is one of the
principal sources of income for the small but resilient Christian
community.
Each item for sale is handcra"ed from olive wood with care and
precision. Any number of items ranging from Nativity sets to
Christmas ornaments will make ideal Christmas gi"s for family,
friends and coworkers. Other items such as statuettes and
rosary beads will make for excellent Baptismal, First
Communion and Confirmation gi"s throughout the year.
For more information and to view available products, please

Thank you for your intentional consideration of the needs of the parish.
