Children’s Catechesis

Registrations begin August 19, 2018 You may download the registration form at

www.stchristopherhouston.org, fill out and bring with you, along with registration fee and required

documents.

Faith Formation Classes – for baptized children 5 yrs. and older, who have never been to catechism classes, and for children who wish to continue their Faith Formation after receiving First Communion. For first time students, a copy of child’s Baptismal Certificate is required to register. First Penance and First Communion Classes - Only for children in the 2nd. grade or above, who meet the pre-requisites. Children must be present at time of registration. RCIC – For children and adolescents 7 – 17 years old who have not yet been baptized. A copy of Birth Certificate is required to register.

REGISTRATION FEES Faith Formation Classes - $40.00 per child. First Penance and First Communion Preparation Classes - $75.00 per child.

Last day to register for Sacrament classes will be Sept. 27, 2018. A $10.00 late fee will apply for registrations after Sept. 27, 2018.

Las Inscripciones serán el Domingo, 19 de Agosto, 2018

Usted podrá llenar la forma de inscripción de antemano, visitando www.stchristopherhouston.org y traerla consigo, junto con la cuota de inscripción y los documentos requeridos.

Formación en la Fe – clases para niños de 5 años en adelante, que nunca han asistido a la catequesis, y para niños que desean continuar su formación, después de recibir la Primera Comunión. Si es la primera vez que inscribe a sus hijos, debe traer consigo una copia del Certificado de Bautismo (de cada niño). Penitencia y Primera Comunión –Únicamente para niños en el segundo año escolar o más alto, que cumplen con los pre-requisitos. Estos niños deben estar presentes durante la inscripción. RICA – Para niños y adolescentes de 7 a 17 años de edad que aún no han sido bautizados. Se requiere copia del Acta de Nacimiento.

CUOTAS DE INSCRIPCION Clases de Formación en la Fe - $40.00 por estudiante Primera Penitencia y Primera Comunión - $75.00 por estudiante.

El último día de inscripciones para las clases de Sacramentos será el 27 de Septiembre, 2018. Habrá un cargo adicional de $10.00 si se registra después de Sep. 27, 2018.

DESCANSA EN EL SEÑOR Durante varias semanas hemos escuchado lecturas que relatan la difícil tarea de los profetas y discípulos. En el Evangelio de hoy, el Señor Jesús escucha lo que le cuentan los discípulos enviados “de dos en dos” a servir a la gente. Jesús, comprendiendo que están fatigados, les dice: “Vengan conmigo a un lugar solitario, para que descansen un poco” (Marcos 6:31). Quizás esto también es lo que el Señor les dice a sus discípulos del año 2018. Debemos hacer un alto en nuestro camino de discípulos y simplemente descansar en el Señor. La Misa del domingo brinda muchas oportunidades para la reflexión, en espe-cial durante los períodos de silencio luego de las lecturas. ¿Por qué no dedicar algo de tiempo hoy a permitir que la palabra salvadora del Señor penetre tu corazón en esos silencios? TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE Desde el Concilio Vaticano II la Iglesia, como Pueblo de Dios, ha tomado la imagen de una peregrinación para definir su presencia en este mundo. Para los hispanos la peregrinación más antigua es la de Santiago de Compos-tela en España cuya fiesta celebramos esta semana. Según la tradición, Santiago Apóstol evangelizó España y después de su muerte su cadáver fue llevado a Galicia por acontecimientos milagrosos. En el siglo VII señales de estrellas llevaron al descubrimiento del lugar de su entierro y se construyó un santuario con el nombre de Campo de Estrellas. Eventualmente, a finales del primer milenio cristiano, empezaron las famosas peregri-naciones a Santiago. Después de muchos siglos la mejor manera de llegar a Santiago todavía es a pie. Recorrer el camino de Santiago es caminar sobre las huellas de innumerables peregrinos que durante más de mil años han ido trazando el sendero. REST IN THE LORD

For several weeks we have listened to readings that have recounted just how arduous the work of prophets and disciples can be. In today’s Gospel, the Lord Jesus listens to the reports of those he had sent out “two by two” to minister to the people. After the apostles reported what they had done, Jesus, recognizing their fatigue, says, “Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest awhile” (Mark 6:31). Perhaps this is what the Lord is tell-ing his disciples in the year 2018 as well. We need to pause on our journey of discipleship and simply rest in the Lord. Sunday Mass provides many opportunities for quiet times, particularly during the periods of silence following the readings. Why not take the time today to allow the saving word of the Lord to penetrate your heart during those silent times? Ask the Lord to renew you in
