This Week’s Liturgy  This is the Fourth Sunday of Lent. We will hear confessions after all our Lenten weekend Masses (except the Sunday 5:30pm Mass) both this weekend and next weekend.

Men of the parish, 18 and older, are invited to the Knights of Columbus Information Night this Monday, March 27, at 7:30pm in the Borromeo Room (first floor PAC). Consider joining our St Charles K of C Council. K of C members are also available, for your questions, after Mass this weekend in the church lobbies. Our Parish Lenten Retreat continues this Wednesday, March 29. Please join us for the Soup Supper from 5:00 till 7:00pm in the Corrigan Gym. Then attend the 7:00pm Mass with son-of-the-parish Father Kevin Klonowski as celebrant/homilist. This week’s Retreat talk is on “The Covenant.” Our Fifth Lenten Friday Fish Fry is this week on March 31. (Only two more after that: April 7 and 14!) Our PTU sponsors this event. There is an extensive menu, the food is great, and the service is most friendly. You can “dine-in” or “take-out” from 4:00 till 7:00pm in the Corrigan Gym. You will find an April Parish Activities Calendar in this bulletin. Please “clip-and-keep-it” on your refrigerator.

Next weekend, Sunday April 2, we will welcome Bishop Roger Gries to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation. Thank you to the Confirmation Team, Day School, and PCRF staff for all their dedicated work in preparing this year’s Confirmandi. Also next week, April 1-2, we will celebrate the Anointing of the Sick at all our weekend Masses. In October, I shared with you that Father Neil O’Connor, long-time pastor of St Columbkille Parish on Broadview Road, would soon retire and then take up residence here at St Charles. All went as planned; Father O’Connor retired in early December. However, there is always the unexpected: Bishop Lennon resigned in December. Toledo Bishop Daniel Thomas, currently serving as administrator of the Cleveland Diocese, believes that only the new, full-time, bishop should make appointments of pastors. Therefore, a new pastor for St Columbkille will only be selected after Cleveland gets a new bishop. In the meantime, St Columbkille has gone from four priests to two priests. Father O’Connor remains at St Columbkille as his help is needed there. Father O’Connor and I met a few days ago and he shared with me the above facts. When will a new bishop be appointed for Cleveland? Some knowledgeable people say it might be another six months or so. We are not alone; there are fourteen dioceses in the United States that need new bishops. I guess Pope Francis has his hands full! If Father O’Connor had been able to join us as expected, we could have continued to offer the current schedule of daily and weekend Masses. Since there will now be only three priests at St Charles for the foreseeable future, some adjustments must be made. Our current Mass schedule dates from 1994. I have mentioned this concern to Parish Council, and now I mention it to you. Over the next few weeks, I will be asking for your advice and suggestions about new times for our daily and weekend Masses. We will probably have to move toward two daily Masses and six weekend Masses. So start thinking about your time preferences for a new weekend/weekday Mass schedule.

Try and visit the chapel for quiet time and talk with Jesus — tell Him how you feel. He’ll give you the help you need to renew your Lenten plans.

Our St Charles Council, although relatively young, assists other parish groups and supports our Special Education PSR Program in particular.

This weekend, March 25 and 26, St Charles K of C members will be in our church vestibules with literature for interested individuals. Our K of C will also hold an information meeting on Monday, March 27th, at 7:30pm, in the Borromeo Room (first floor of the Parish Activities Center).
