Grace, Mercy and Peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ be with you always. R: And with your spirit.

Let us turn to the Lord Confessing our sins, that we might hear His Holy Word …….

I Confess, R: to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, (striking their breast 3 times, they say:) through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault; therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

The Words of Pardon

THE COLLECT OF THE DAY

THE WORD OF GOD

A Reading from the Prophet Isaiah 55:10-11 Thus says the LORD: Just as from the heavens the rain and snow come down and do not return there till they have watered the earth, making it fertile and fruitful, giving seed to the one who sows and bread to the one who eats, so shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth; my word shall not return to me void, but shall do my will, achieving the end for which I sent it. The Word of the Lord: R: Thanks be to God Gradiual Psalm (65)

The seed that falls on good ground will yield a fruitful harvest. You have visited the land and watered it; greatly have you enriched it. God’s watercourses are filled; you have pre-pared the grain. R. The seed that falls on good ground will yield a fruit-ful harvest. Thus have you prepared the land: drenching its furrows, breaking up its clods, Softening it with showers, blessing its yield. R. The seed that falls on good ground will yield a fruit-ful harvest. You have crowned the year with your bounty, and your paths overflow with a rich harvest; The untilled meadows overflow with it, and rejoicing clothes the hills. R. The seed that falls on good ground will yield a fruit-ful harvest.

OPENING HYMN Tune Munich

O Word of God incarnate, O wisdom from on high, O truth unchanged, unchanging, O light of our dark sky: We praise You for the radiance That from the hallowed page, A lantern to our footsteps, Shines on from age to age.

The Church from You, our Savior, Received the gift divine, And still that light is lifted O’er all the earth to shine. It is the sacred vessel Where gems of truth are stored; It is the Heav’n drawn picture Of Christ, the living Word

The fields are garmented with flocks and the valleys blanketed with grain. They shout and sing for joy. R. The seed that falls on good ground will yield a fruitful harvest.

The Epistle of St. Paul to the Romans; 8:18-23

Beloved: I consider that the sufferings of this present time are as nothing compared with the glory to be revealed for us. For crea-tion awaits with eager expectation the revelation of the children of God; for creation was made subject to futility, not of its own accord but because of the one who subjected it, in hope that cre-ation itself would be set free from slavery to corruption and share in the glorious freedom of the children of God. We know that all creation is groaning in labor pains even until now; and not only that, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, we also groan within ourselves as we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies. The Word of the Lord. R: Thanks be to God

Alleluia, alleluia. The seed is the word of God, Christ is the sower. All who come to him will have life forever. Alleluia, alleluia.

The holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to St Matthew. (11:25-30)

R: Glory to you, O Lord

On that day, Jesus went out of the house and sat down by the sea. Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat down, and the whole crowd stood along the shore. And he spoke to them at length in parables, say-ing: “A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path, and birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky ground, where it had little soil. It sprang up at once because the soil was not deep, and when the sun rose it was scorched, and it withered for lack of roots. Some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it. But some seed fell on rich soil, and produced fruit, a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold. Whoever has ears ought to hear.” The disciples approached him and said, “Why do you speak to them in parables?” He said to them in reply, “Because knowledge of the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven has been granted to you, but to them it has not been granted. To anyone who has, more will be given and he will grow rich; from anyone who has not, even what he has will be taken away. This is why I speak to them in parables, because they look but do not see and hear but do not listen or understand. Isaiah’s prophecy is fulfilled in them, which says: You shall indeed hear but not understand, you shall indeed look but never see. Gross is the heart of this people, they will hardly hear with their ears, they have closed their eyes, lest they see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their hearts and be converted, and I heal them. “But blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they hear. Amen, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it. “Hear then the parable of the sower. The seed sown on the path is the one who hears the word of the kingdom without understanding it, and the evil one comes and steals away what was sown in his heart. The seed sown on rocky ground is the one

who hears the word and receives it at once with joy. But he has no root and lasts only for a time. When some tribulation or per-secution comes because of the word, he immediately falls away. The seed sown among thorns is the one who hears the word, but then worldly anxiety and the lure of riches choke the word and it bears no fruit. But the seed sown on rich soil is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and yields a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold.” The Gospel of the Lord R: Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. THE NICEAN CREED I believe in one God, R: The Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, (ALL BOW)

and by the Holy Spirit was Incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen

The Intercessions Let us pray for the Church and for the world.

Grant, Almighty God, that all who confess your Name may be united in your truth, live together in your love, and reveal your glory in the world. Lord, in your mercy; Hear our prayer.

Pray, brethren that my sacrifice and yours may be accepta-ble to God, the almighty Father. R: May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands for the praise and glory of his name, for our good and the good of all his holy Church.

The Lord be with you. And with your spirit. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right and just

The Preface of the Mass

Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. The Canon of the Mass (All Kneel)

The Mystery of Faith We Proclaim your death O Lord and profess your res-urrection, until you come again The Canon of the Mass continues At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Deliver us, Lord, we pray……….. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever. Prayer for Peace

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.

Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.

Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.

Bless all whose lives are closely linked with ours, and grant that we may serve Christ in them, and love one an-other as he loves us. Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

Comfort and heal all those who suffer in body, mind, or spirit; give them courage and hope in their troubles, and bring them the joy of your salvation. Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

We commend to your mercy all who have died, that your perfect will for them may be fulfilled; and we pray that we may share with all your saints in your eternal king-dom. Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

Most merciful Father; hear our prayer and in your com-passion forgive us our sins and uphold us by your Holy Spirit that we may live and serve you in newness of life, to the honor and glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Leonine Prayers for the Church V. Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. R. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen. (three times)

Hail, Holy Queen, R: Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee to we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mouring and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advo-cate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this exile, show unto us the blessed Fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God. R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray. O God, our refuge and our strength, look down with mercy upon the people who cry to Thee; and by the intercession of the glorious and immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of God, of St. Joseph her spouse, of the blessed Apostles Peter and Paul, and of all the saints, in Thy mercy and goodness hear our prayers for the conver-sion of sinners, and for the liberty and exaltation of the Holy Mother the Church. Through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.

St. Michael the Archangel, R: defend us in battle; be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. Amen.

Prayer Invoking Protection against Pestilence Vouchsafe to hear us, O God, our only salvation! And through the Infi-nite merits of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, which flowed from His Sacred Heart as He hung upon the Cross, through the intercession of the glorious and Immaculate blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of St Joseph her most chaste spouse, of our patroness St Catherine Laboure and of all the saints, deliver thy people from the terrors that beset us, and re-store our confidence by the outpouring of thy compassion. Be moved to pity, O Lord, at our earnest entreaties, and heal the illness-es of body and soul; so that experiencing thy forgiveness we may ever rejoice in thy blessing. We beseech thee, O Lord, grant us a hearing as we devoutly raise our petitions to thee, and graciously turn away the epidemic of plague which afflicts us, and the moral turpitude that blind the nations, and the confusion that has entered even into the Church; so that mortal hearts may recognize that these scourges proceed from thine indignation and cease only when thou art moved by our penance to bestow mercy and healing. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, who live and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit. One God forever and ever. Amen
