NEW PARISHIONERS – Please pick up a Registration Form,
located on the table at the front entrance of the church. Fill out
the information and drop it in the collection basket, or return it to
the parish office. You may also register by phone by calling
the office during business hours. Thank you very much!
COMMUNION CALLS-Eucharistic Ministers from St. Philip
and St. Catherine bring Communion to parishioners who cannot
attend Mass due to age and/or illness. If you know a parishioner
who is homebound and would like to receive the Eucharist, please
call the church office Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon.
PARISHIONERS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS - (1) The first
pew on both sides of the church are reserved for parishioners that
have any type of physical limitations. They may also receive
Holy Communion while staying in that pew if they choose. At
that time, all those in the crying room may come out to the end of
the first pew and receive communion. (2) Parishioners that have
any type of allergies that prohibit them from receiving the stan-
dard wheat host for Holy Communion should contact the parish
office.
REMINDER – At St. Philip Church, the crying room is available
for families with young children attending Mass. At St. Catherine
Church, the library alcove is available if your child needs a break/
quiet time.
ALSO - Please refrain from bringing juice boxes & messy
snacks into church during Mass. Snacks may be eaten in the church hall before or after Mass.
SANDWICHES FOR LOAVES & FISHES- First Tuesday of
each month. Individually wrapped sandwiches should be brought to St. Catherine Church hall by 1:00 p.m.– October 6.
PLEASE REMEMBER- The Sacrament, Anointing of the
Sick, now replaces “Last Rites” for the ill or infirmed. As soon
as someone’s condition worsens, please call the priest so that he
can make arrangements to administer this sacrament, as it is not
preferable to wait until the last moment before death.
“He has done all things well.
He makes the deaf hear
and the mute speak.” (Mark 7: 37)
From Fr. Daniel
Our Gospel tells us of the healing power of Jesus when He
opens the mouth and ears of the deaf man. After He has prayed,
Jesus uses the word “Ephphatha”, which means “be opened” and
is a part of the baptismal ceremony. The priest blesses the mouth
and ears of the infant so that they will be ready to hear the Word of God throughout their lives and also to offer God praise and
thanksgiving for His many blessings.
Each of us has received this special blessing as we began
our journey of faith. The question is; are we hearing the Word of
God?
In order for the Word to have an impact on us we need to meditate on it in quiet. This can be difficult if the only time we
hear the Word of God is in the context of Sunday Mass. There
can be distractions at Mass that prevent the reading of the
scriptures from penetrating deep into our hearts and minds.
If we are going to grow in his grace and love we also need to
spend time alone with him. If we always have to be entertained, to have TV or radio or be absorbed in doing something, if we do
not make time for quiet time in our life so we can hear our Lord
speak to us, it is not likely we will hear him very well, if at all.
Let us take a moment of silence to thank God for the gift of
hearing and let us pray for healing in those areas of our lives
where we are unable to hear or do not want to hear.
Fr. Daniel
THE SECOND COLLECTION TODAY is the Regular
Monthly Collection.
THE ALTAR ROSARY SOCIETY -
Our first meeting for 2015/2016 will be held
on Monday, September 14th at St. Catherine
Church hall. Please join us for a Pot Luck
Supper at 6:00 p.m.
TO: STAINED GLASS WINDOW CONTRIBUTORS
We are preparing a publication to recognize our generous
contributors to the St. Catherine Stained Glass Window
Restoration Fund. Before doing so, we ask that all contributors
check with the church office to ensure that their names appear as
they would like them to be published, or to confirm if they wish to
remain anonymous. A draft of the publication is available for
review in the office, and also in the entryway to the office (after
normal business hours).
Any changes should be communicated to the church office
before September 15, the day the materials will be sent to the
printer/engraver.
Please note that memorial gifts will appear in the name of
the deceased only, and not the individual contributor, unless the
contribution was a major sponsorship of a particular window.
New contributions are welcome at any time, and new
contributors will be recognized in updated publications. Thank
you for your generosity.

ST. CATHERINE CEMETERY
On January 1, 2016 St. Catherine Cemetery will increase the
price of a single full size grave. The new price will be:
$700.00 - St. Catherine & St. Philip parishioners
$1,050.00 - St. Margaret Mary & St. Francis of Assisi
St. Catherine has not changed the grave price since 2001. A review of other cemeteries in the surrounding area showed that our prices are the lowest by a substantial amount. Cemetery operating costs rise each year. It is with reluctance that we make these changes, however, they will better cover operating expenses and bring St. Catherine prices more in line with other cemeteries in our area.
