“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear...” Psalm 46:1,2 MAY 2020 We see God’s blessings on our labours to reach the Arabic world. We continue to broadcast a weekly one-hour television program in Arabic. The program compares the teachings of Islam with that of the Bible. It is a way of bringing the Gospel message to the Arabic communities around the world. The broadcast is live (in real time), which allows for audience participation through a call-in program. Because of coronavirus we started to pre-tape the program and broadcast each week (Monday) from St. Catharines (Trinity URC) via a television station in California. In this program, Rev. Megaly discusses important topics that help people to understand Bible and refuse the false teaching. Through this program, the Lord is changing lives. We also broadcast a monthly one-hour television program in English. The program compares the teachings of Islam with that of the Bible through an interview format. Various area ministers have taken part along with other experts on Islam and Christianity. The last program Rev. Megaly discussed with Rev. Greg Bylsma “Does God command revenge or forgiveness?” from the book of Numbers chapter 31. These themes, especially why God would command people to kill in the Old Testament, are the very popular topics that Rev. Megaly tackles when he speaks in schools, seminars or churches. We give thanks to the Lord because viewers are coming to understand the truth directly from the Word and to know the true and living God. Here is an update on some of our other activities: Fellowship Café and Sports: • Due to coronavirus, we do not have Fellowship Café meeting, but the team and the committee continue to contact people and offer help to show the love of Christ to the community. The team distributed baskets of food and plants. We pray that things would return back to normal and reopen again. Book Translation: “Promise and Deliverance” Volume 1 has now been completed in Arabic by Rev. Megaly. The book also will be in video. Rev. Megaly is working on an Arabic translation of the catechism and commentary. Rev. Megaly had the invitation to go to Indonesia and Ethiopia, but due to the current situation the committee decided to postpone it. Presentations: We have put this on hold for now, but after the country reopens for public meetings those interested in learning about Islam and ways for Christians to share the Gospel with their neighbours are welcome to ask Pastor Thabet Megaly to come and make a presentation. Prayer: Please pray for this ministry, also for the English TV program. In the future, we would like to broadcast the English program on a weekly basis if there is sufficient financial support. Thank you so much for your prayers and support. Rev. Megaly can be reached at: [email protected] or 289-687-0570. St. Catharines, ON - Pathway of Peace Rev. Thabet & Wafaa Megaly MAY 2020 PAGE 1

Warm greetings from the country of Papua New Guinea in the South Pacific.

My wife, Jane, and I travel to Papua New Guinea a couple of times per year in order to build Christ’s church through my serving with MINTS International Seminary. Some of my time is spent in the capital city of Port Moresby teaching classes at the Reformed Churches Bible College (RCBC) and preaching in the local churches. The RCBC seeks to prepare men and women for service in Christ’s church. Some of the men who have graduated from the college have gone on to become pastors of Reformed Churches in Papua New Guinea. Others have used their education to become teachers in their communities or hold positions of leadership in their churches. The leaders at the RCBC are interested in working with MINTS to see if our materials can be used to further develop some of their graduates. It has been encouraging for us as we see spiritual growth in the students and graduates of the RCBC. We also appreciate the fellowship of the saints as we serve and worship the Lord together.

Some other saints with whom we serve live in the Sepik River Valley, 470 miles northwest of Port Moresby. We made a trip to the small town of Ambunti in order to spend time there training about 30 pastors from a number of different villages. My intent had been to teach them a MINTS course on the book of Daniel, but the Covid-19 pandemic changed our plans. Once the first case of coronavirus was officially diagnosed in PNG, the government placed restrictions on travel and prohibited large gatherings. The pastors conference had to be suspended, and we had to depart Ambunti in the middle of the night in order to catch one of the last flights before the lockdown came into effect. It was a great disappointment for me not to be able to teach at the pastor’s conference. We pray that the Lord may sustain those brothers in their work and that a door may open in the future for me to go back there and teach them from God’s Word.

The coronavirus continues to affect us as it has become difficult to find flights to bring us back to the U.S. At this point it appears

we will be staying a month longer than we planned. In the meantime, I continue to teach, preach, and share with men the possibilities of further studies through MINTS.

While there is much turmoil in our world, we rest in the fact that God is in control and that His perfect plan is being carried out.

Your servant in Christ,

Melvin Dotinga
