In light of the Letter to the Hebrews’ assertion that Jesus’ prayer was heard, though he had to suffer, how do we define “heard” in relation to our own prayer? Does “heard” equal “granted to my specifications”? What are some examples of our heartfelt intentions that might require us to redefine our idea of “being heard”?

STEWARDSHIP

Envelopes are at the north exit of the church. We need parishioners to donate to the Together in Mission campaign to help our parish and the many needs facing the 40 parishes and 47 parish schools in Los Angeles that benefit from the campaign. Please take the time, with your family, to review these materials

carefully and to prayerfully consider making a significant financial commitment to help support our financially challenged parish communities. We will be collecting funds and commitment information this month. Please place the envelope in the collection plate or see any usher.

Volunteers: St. Brigid Church is looking for volunteers to form a TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE. The committee will start work in the New Year. We are looking for parishioners who are skilled and experienced in the areas of website management, computers and telephones. Please call Father Caesar.

Jr. Ushers Needed: If you are 4+ and interested, please call Andrea @ 310-279-8145. Our membership is always open. The only qualification needed to be a Jr. Usher is to be a Christian willing to stand at the door for Jesus and help us during mass.

Sister Thea Bowman Music Academy: (Seeking to reach African American youth between the ages of 13 to 19 years old for a youth choir and liturgical dance group) meets the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month from 9:00am to 12noon at St. Bernadette School site – 3825 Don Felipe Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90008. The primary objective of the academy is to utilize music as a tool to teach through discipline practices and prayerful performances with Christian values and Catholic Social Ministries. CHILD PROTECTION The Los Angeles Archdiocese will begin their audit at the beginning of the year. St. Brigid asks all Ministry Leaders to please cooperate in making sure that anyone working with any youth under the age of 18 gets fingerprinted and certified. EDUCATION

CALLING ALL GRADUATES: A Graduation Mass will be held at St. Brigid on Sunday, June 24, 2012, at the 10:30am Mass. A guest speaker will be present to address the graduates and all in attendance. You don’t have to be a member of the parish; you don’t have to be Catholic to participate. All that is required is that you be a graduate from pre-school, elementary school,

high school, college, or grad school. We want to recognize our graduates and demonstrate how proud we are of them and what they have achieved. Registration forms for the Graduation Mass are available now on the tables at the entrances to the church. Please fill out the form and return it to the church office, or give it to one of the ushers. The deadline for registration is Sunday, April 15, 2012. All graduates are invited to participate.

To determine your eligibility, please call Mr. Chris Bozant at (323) 980-1221 and sign up for one of the Board of Equalization’s (BOE) Volunteer Income Tax Assistance events where professional certified tax preparers will provide eligible individuals, free income tax preparation services as well as other free or low cost services. effort to reduce our debt through our Lenten folders.

March 27th Lenten Penance Service - 7:30 PM The Parishes of St. Bernadette, Transfiguration, Holy Name and St. Brigid will have a joint Lenten Penance Service. Ten priests will be there to assist with confessions. Let us make a good confession part of our

preparation to celebrate the great Feast of Easter.

March 31st Palm Sunday Vigil - 4 PM

April 1st Palm Sunday: Masses as Usual

April 2nd Monday, Chrism Mass at the Cathedral - 7 PM Celebrates the establishment of the Sacrament of Holy Orders and Blesses the Holy Oils used in Baptism,

Confirmation, Holy Orders and Sacrament of the Sick.

April 5th Holy Thursday, 7 PM Mass of the Lord’s Supper Bi-Lingual Unity Mass, followed by Adoration sign up for at least 30 Minutes to pray and give thanks!
