''Let's remember the Souls of our beloved deceased'' This month of November we remember the Souls of our departed brothers and Sisters. After having re-membered her glorified saints yesterday, the Church remembers today her suffering members who are un-dergoing the process of purification in purgatory. Actu-ally none of today's readings speaks about purgatory or purification. Isaiah (25:6-9) speaks about God taking His people from their sorrows and tears to gladness and rejoicing. In the second reading St. Paul assures us that God wants to save us. If Christ died to save us when we were sinners, what will He not do for us now that we are His disciples, argues St. Paul. In the gospel Jesus too tells us that He will raise up all who believe in Him. It is the eagerness of God to save us that makes Him give us a chance even after death to be purified of the stains of sin with which we might die. Let us re-member the holy souls in purgatory and through our sufferings let us alleviate their suffering. We know and believe that the Souls in purgatory whom we see with our eyes of faith are in greater need of help and relief than the hungry and the thirsty on earth whom we see with our physical eyes.
