3rd Sunday of Advent
“Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all circum-
stances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” –
1 Thessalonians 5:16 - 18
This scripture reading sums up Stewardship. “Rejoice always”
means place your trust in God; He will provide all that you
need. “Pray constantly” means prayer should be a running
conversation with God throughout the whole day, every day.
“Give thanks in all circumstances” means even in bad situa-
tions, thank God. Suffering a little bit helps build empathy for
others in similar situations.
Stewardship becomes a way of life by activating the trust that
we have. Acceptance comes by letting go of control--it is dif-
ficult isn't it? Remember our self-control is self-centeredness.
Whew, we do not like to hear that! Acceptance only comes
when we come to the realization that we pray for God's will in
our life not our own. God does not let us down either. He
sends His charming Grace that says, "Everything is all right,
don't worry. You'll be “o.k.” Peace of mind is the result of
trust brought about by acceptance. So don't be fooled, God is
really the One providing for you and your family. All you or I
need to do is to trust Him and do what He asks us to do. Listen
carefully to Father Martino's homilies week after week and
your trust in God will grow.

Las Posadas Celebradas en Familia:
An Invitation to Hospitality
Everyone is cordially invited to come
celebrate Las Posadas with us at our
Lady of Lourdes Church! Las Posadas
are Christmas celebrations in which the
route taken by Mary and Joseph in their search for a place
to stay for the birth of Jesus is recreated. The celebration
will be including music, the breaking of piñatas, eating,
and dancing as a community. During the holiday season,
Our Lady of Lourdes Church and the Sacred Heart Church
proudly open their doors to be a part of this tradition. Eve-
ryone is welcome to attend as there will be activities for
the kids, a procession, singing, piñatas for the little ones,
and candy!

Firm Ground
It’s a great gift: sensing keenly that
amidst darkness, change, and un-
certainty, the only firm ground we
can stand on is God. The God we meet in Advent calls
us into a future greater than we can ever imagine.
