With heartfelt sadness we invite you to gather as a Parish Community to say goodbye to
Father John and to say Thank You for the many years he has served St. Bernard’s.
Father will be leaving at the end of the month to join his family back in the Midwest.
Composed prayer to the Mother of God by St. John Paul II for Mary. May the Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, be also mother of the domestic church.
Through her maternal help, may every Christian family truly become a little church which reflects and relives the mystery of the Church of Christ. May you who are the servant of the Lord, be our example of a humble and generous welcome of the will of God! You who are the mother of sorrows at the foot of the cross, be there to lighten our loads, and wipe away the tears of those afflicted by family difficulties
May Christ the Lord, King of the Universe, King of families, be present, as at Cana, in every Christian home, to communicate his light, joy, serenity, and strength. May every family generously add its share to the coming os his kingdom on earth. To Christ and to you, Mary, we entrust our families. Amen.
On June 24, my friend Bishop Ron Hicks from the Archdiocese of Chicago, will read from the just released book about NPH founder Father William Wasson, Change the World. Start with the Children: A book about the Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos homes. He’ll share Fr. Wasson’s philosophy and his legacy of nine homes for abandoned and vulnerable children in Latin America and the Caribbean. Bishop Ron will share his personal stories of Fr. Wasson and the children. Great Opportunity The Catholic Community Foundation is offering a 2:1 match on any contributions to our parish endowment fund. If you are interested simply call the CCF office at 480-651-8800 or [email protected]. This would also apply if a family wanted to start a new endowment.
In these difficult times, the CCF is trying to help us prepare for the future.
We are still in Phase One of our safe return to public Mass. It is good to see so many families returning to Church on Sunday. There is still no obligation to at-tend Mass on Sunday, so if you are uncomfortable or sick please stay home and participate in the Live Stream Mass at 11:00am on Sunday and make a Spiritual Communion. In this phase we are still unable to have large gatherings, so of course there will be no Vacation Bible School this summer. We wish all our Faith Formation families a healthy and safe summer vacation and are hopeful that we will be able to resume classes in September or October.
Confirmation and First Communions will not resume for us until Phase Three, which may be a few months out, so we cannot set the date for that until we reach Phase Three. We will be looking at a time in the Fall for the class of 2020 and of course set a date in the Spring for 2021. We need to approach everything safely and pa-tiently.
Information is coming out daily, so we encourage you to check the website stbernardscottsdale.org for all updated information.

I can pick up emails when I am out of the Office, so you will get a response a lot quicker than leav-ing a voice mail. The Parish is using Flocknote to send out general messages, so if you are not receiving them please call the Parish Office and make sure they have your current phone number or email.

R C I A The Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA) is our program for providing those who seek to become part of the Catholic Church instruction about our faith. The program begins in late September and ends at the Easter Vigil where participants receive the sacrament of baptism or make a profession of faith and receive the sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist.
