Happy Mother’s Day. Pretend you’re sitting in the hall being served breakfast by the Knights.

Only two more weeks of heavy restrictions, until they add to them again.

Playing the prophet: When they reopen the barber shops, they’re going to run out of dumpsters.

Fifth Sunday of Easter, Cycle A

John 14:1–12

Jesus tells his disciples,

“I am the way and the truth and the life.”

The readings for the last few Sundays have been about the Resurrection, but today’s Gospel takes us back in time to an

event in Jesus’ life before his Passion. Jesus tells his disciples that he is going to prepare a place for them in his Father’s

house. He promises that where he is going, his disciples will be able to follow. Thomas, who will later doubt the disciples’

reports that they have seen the Risen Lord, contradicts Jesus by saying that the disciples don’t know where Jesus is going or how to get there. Jesus explains that he himself is the way, the

truth, and the life. In knowing and loving Jesus, the disciples now love God the Father.

Thank you for your support as we assure Bishop Boyea that we are alive and thriving.

ST. VINCENT de PAUL CONFERENCE In the Gospel Jesus says "...whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these, because I am going to the Father." Through your almsgiving you are performing a good work; far greater than you think. Your dollars given to our St. Vincent de Paul brings Christ's love and compassion to the poor. Our next tentative meeting is Thursday May 21 at 7 PM in the Family Center.

To our St. Augustine Family/Parishioners: During this Covid 19 Pandemic your St. Vincent de Paul is here to assist you! If you have loss of income or any other need we

are here to help you. All calls/information from you will be kept confidential.

Call Deacon Bill/Pat Sirl (810 750-2669) for our SVDP Good Shepherd care and love.

Thank you to all the parishioners who have given their grocery receipts from VG's and Alpine Grocery store. We are close to the $150,000 in VG receipts through their Direct Your Dollars program. When we reach that goal, St Vincent de Paul will receive a $1000 check from them. We still need about $3000 in receipts. When you use your "Yes" card, your receipt should show how much is going to the program. Be sure to turn in the complete receipt! Thank you again--love that our whole church community supports SVDP in so many ways! Any questions, call me, Susan Fey, at 810-623-7220

Your continued financial support of our parish during this time is deeply appreciated. Please

continue to mail your donations or consider e-giving via WeShare where you can make a

one time or on going donation

May is a month in which our Catholic church honors Mary. Maybe you recall participating in a May Crowning or praying a family rosary? Perhaps you have a statue of Our Lady in your garden? The very last page of last week's bulletin includes a letter from Pope Francis and some prayers for this month. You can find it on our website.

We invite your family to create a special place to honor Mary in/around your home. Find a statue of Mary and a candle and a rosary. Lay a special piece of cloth upon the surface and gather flowers to create a garland to place upon Mary's head or around her base. Gather the family to pray a Hail Mary at least once a day. Perhaps add a Hail Mary to your bedtime or mealtime prayers. Jesus gave Mary to us as our mother when he died upon the cross. Let's learn more about her and see if we can grow in grace during this month of May. Email us a photo of your special space for Mary and include the family!

Deacon Jeff leads a parish rosary via Zoom each Wednesday at 7pm. Check your email for the link or call the office for more information.

Please continue to check your email for updates and materials for ongoing Family Faith Formation at home. If you have not received our weekly emails, please check your spam folder and then give us a call at the office so we can update our records.

WHEN WILL WE BE ABLE TO RETURN TO MASS IN OUR BELOVED CHURCH?

At the time of this publication, we are working on the plan to resume public Mass in some form beginning the week of May 18. If Governor Whitmer extends the stay at home order for Livingston county, the diocesan staff has informed us that we will need to push that date out accordingly. As we begin to plan for the return of public Masses and gatherings here at St. Augustine, rest assured that our pastoral leadership team is working diligently and praying fervently for wisdom and grace during this time. We will be mindful of public health guidelines and ask for your continued prayers as we await liturgical guidelines from the Diocese of Lansing and strive to implement best practices for our parish family. There will be changes and it will continue to be a challenging time for all of us. We encourage you to remain hopeful and to trust in God to guide us and to bring us together safely. We hope to have additional information to publish in this space and on our website next week. If you have specific questions or concerns about protocols once guidelines are released, please don’t hesitate to call or email. We are in this together and we trust God as our ultimate guide. Come, Holy Spirit, Come.

Livingston County Catholic Charities remains open and serving our community. Services provided are telehealth for both Mental Health and Substance Abuse services, Child Welfare through Foster Care and Adoption programs, Substance Abuse Prevention Efforts and Senior Services through our Community Liaison (connecting seniors to critical resources) and Volunteer Caregiver programs. Program staff in our Volunteer Caregiver program continue to provide transportation for seniors for critical medical appointments, grocery shopping and food delivery and more. Our volunteers have shifted temporarily to providing critical phone check-in visits for the elderly who are even more isolated now to protect the health of vulnerable seniors. Community Liaison staff are busier than ever working with seniors to connect

them to and help them secure critical services and resources that help them to live safe and well on their limited incomes during this time of limited services and resources. Both of these services have been and remain free to seniors. As mental health and addiction is on the rise due to COVID-19, persons struggling with mental heath concerns can contact our Clinical Director, John Furey at 517-545-5944 for an initial phone intake. John will return your call on days of operation. Persons struggling with addiction can contact our Clinical Case Manager, Jessica, 24/7 at 517-375-1652. Hours of operation have been modified to Tuesdays 12p-8p, Wednesdays 9a-5p and Fridays 9a-5p. LCCC

is working within the CDC guidelines. Please visit our website www.livingstoncatholiccharities.org for up-to-date information on days and times of operation, program staff contacts, valuable resources and more. We look forward to when we can resume full operation of all programs and remain committed to serving our community with a focus on the most vulnerable. Driven by Faith. Here for All.
