Hello Riders and fellow Eagles, spring is here so it’s time to pull out the leather and fire up the bikes. I will be having a meet-ing of all the Iowa Eagle Riders Groups on April 4th at 1:00 p.m. at the Grinnell Eagles and we will dis-cuss issues and events. All Eagle Riders are invited to attend. We have some Riders at the Council Bluffs Eagles #104 that is in the process of starting up an Eagle Riders Group. They will be hav-ing a meeting on April 19th at 1:00 p.m. at the Council Bluffs Eagles Club. Other upcoming events are April 4th Sheldon Blue Finger Poker Run. Des Moines

#109 will be having a Poker Run on April 25th. Remember that the Eagle Riders will have a meeting at the State Convention in Burl-ington on June 27th with a ride to follow that will be put on by the Burlington Eagle Riders Group. There are many other up coming events so please check the web site www.foeeagleriders.com of-ten. Eagle Riders State Coordinator Dennis “Chief” Walkup

Ahoy, Mates This is the next to the last letter that I will be writing to you. I will probably get a little sentimental reflecting on this past year. There are so many to thank, I will just say a huge THANK YOU to my sisters and brothers. The “Heart Connection” char-ity events are doing great. It is so heart warming to hear the differ-ent families tell of their experi-ences with the Heart Connection. The special guest of honor in Bur-lington was Mark Slocum, the director of the Heart Connection. He was impressed at the way the Eagles make money and have fun doing it. Upon receiving the member-ship report from the Grand Aerie, I saw that Iowa is rated # 9 in the nation!! That is good!!! But, out of 38 auxiliaries, 23 had a goose egg....The Aerie membership is ahead of the auxiliary, so, I guess John will not be walking the plank of the USS Eagledom. I have just returned from Cres-ton and Grinnell state charity events. WOW! Two more won-derful nights for the state charity.

Everyone is doing such a great job for ‘da kids. My thanks to ev-eryone that is involved to make these events successful... A big thank you to our auctioneer and clerk. March 21st, I will be visit-ing Tama for their state charity event. The 26th I will be with Grand Madam President Pat, in Fort Dodge and then driving her to Des Moines for their state char-ity event and the beginning of the Western Zone. April 2nd, I will be visiting Osceola before travel-ing to St. Joe for MINK. The election of officers will be coming up shortly for the new fis-cal year. May-be there is a mem-ber that would like to get involved and take an office? Until next time, God Bless Admiral, Rochelle McKay, SMP

P.S. I am asking the auxiliaries to bring their flags to the state convention in Burlington. They will be placed behind the podium prior to the joint opening.

Deere John . . . We are now

into the last few months of the year and our State Char-ity nights

and membership have been great. Since last month we have been to Burlington, Ottumwa, Clinton, Waterloo, Creston and Grinnell along with a stop in Osceola and making our District Meeting in Manchester. Joyce and I would like to thank all the aeries and auxiliaries for the hospitality. The children and staff at the Heart Connection thank everyone who has attended the State Charity nights and for digging into your pockets to purchase items at the

auctions and raffle tickets. We will be putting smiles on many faces. There are many children in Iowa suffering from cancer and these camps are so important for them to be with each other and share life experiences. For those aeries not hosting State Charity nights, we ask you to please have some time of fund raiser in your aerie home for the Heart Connec-tion, any amount would be greatly appreciated. Membership has been doing great and I along with the mem-bership team thank you. Our membership team will be passing out awards at the zone confer-ences in Des Moines and Water-loo. I am hoping each and every aerie has someone attending their

zone conference so they may find out first hand what is hap-pening in Iowa and to bring these m e m b e r s h i p awards back to their aerie homes to present to the broth-ers that have earned them. Along with this we are proud to announce the new aerie in Mar-ion will be instituted on Sunday afternoon, April 26th following the Eastern Zone Conference in Waterloo. Please plan on attend-ing and we will be getting more information out later date.In closing, remember it is time to plan for this coming year, you need to have your nomination of officers for this coming year in

April along with your delegates to the State Convention

in Burlington June 25-27. It is important that every aerie is rep-resented in Burlington, it is your chance to voice your opinions and be part of the greatest Fraternal Organization in the

world. John GoffinetIowa State PresidentFraternal Order of Eaglese-mail [email protected] 319-465-4079cell 563-543-0156

Happy Easter! As we get ready to wrap up our membership year, let’s not forget to get those final reports in to me on time. Reports are due to me by the 6th of each month, to receive full points for our grand prize in June. I would love to get another month of 100% reporting! Thank-you to all the Auxiliaries that have worked

so hard to keep their barracks clean and tidy! Let’s get out, and get those delinquent members re-instated so they can be a part of the future of our organization. Tiffany

Let’s help them get back on board , remind them of what we are and what we do. April 22, “Earth Day”, is a beautiful time to clean-up our ship. And how about a “May Day” basket filled with some candy, flowers and a member-ship application? Don’t forget Mother’s Day, another prefect time for wonderful gift from the heart! Happy Mother’s Day to all you Lovely Mothers. So... Don’t be foolish, ( Sailors) and bring our ship up to our Admiral’s expectations! Over and Out, Chief Brenda Youngbear

Congratulations girls, with your help Iowa still ranks in the top 15 states where we currently are in 9th place. Year to date, we’re ahead of our yearly quota by 46 but we’re behind Rochelle’s goal by 59. We are ahead of the men in state stats because they are in 11th place – but that’s the only place we’re ahead of them. Currently, with the bet we have between the Aerie and Auxiliary, they are 21 percent ahead of us. So, ladies, if you want to beat the men, we need to work just a little harder to get ahead of them. We are still ahead of Kansas and Nebraska

We Need To Get in Gear if We Want to Win Our Bets

but trailing Missouri by quite a bit. In looking at the February re-port, a few more were added to the ranks of those recognized for signing five or more members thus far. These ladies deserve a special “Atta Girl” for doing their part for membership. Those recognized are: Marilyn Mintun, 16; Mary Ann Cutting, 16; Sandra Fox, 14; Darlene Lan-grehr, 14; Shirley Ready, 13; Bar-bara Lynch, 13; Marcy Knauss, 12; Lisa Miller, 11; Barbara Gar-son, 9; Jackie Heinle, 9; Donna

Verploegh, 9; Kathy Davis, 8; Sharon Kleppe, 7; Patti Selk, 6; Emily Mowen, 6; Brenda Hen-ninger, 6; Jackie Rodriguez, 6; Barbara Jensen, 6; Janice Hes-ton, 5; Cheryl Neyens, 5; Pamela Thompson, 5; Mary Herzog, 5; Anne Link, 5; Stephanie Strem-low, 5; Carrie Davis, 5; Cynthia McKee, 5; Velva Brereton, 5; Marlene Bruch, 5; Joyce Claude, 5; and Kim Hill, 5. With convention not far off, re-member your membership posters and that each auxiliary needs to bring a centerpiece for the mem-bership luncheon. Will have more information on the membership luncheon next time. Captain Haidsiak

Hello to all our wonderful brothers and sis-ters, Here it is the first of April already, time re-ally flies when you are having fun. I’m sure warmer weather is on the way but all our brothers and sisters around the state have kept our hearts warm all winter with their response to the Presidents State Charity. We have re-ceived warm welcomes every where we have been. And on top of that we believe we have raised some good money towards our goal. But that doesn’t mean we are ready to let up

yet. The more we hear from the cancer victims who visit with us during our travels the more we are motivated to raise funds for them. We still have a lot of stops to make in April and May. Check the schedule elsewhere in this award win-ning bulletin and come visit with us at one of our stops and help us raise money for these very deserving kids. See you along the Eagle Trail Love Ya’ All Rochelle, John, Nellie and Joe. (JoJo, Sabrina and Pat)

The best way to send the information is by the “File” youcreate it in, (M/S Word, Access, Excel, etc.) or by a PDF File.If you don’t have a PDF “Converter” Program, don’t worry, Ido & I can convert it into a “Printable” File to Post. It’s agood way to let EVERYONE in Iowa & the whole Eagles

jurisdiction to let themknow what you are doing!

If you want it on the“Iowa Events”, Web page,it will be posted in theorder that it is “Received”!It’s also a good way of pre-venting having more thenone Event on the samedate, to increase otherAerie participation! (Yes, Iknow, sometimes it can’t beprevented).

The Web Site is set-up for best viewing, using 600X800Resolution! Instruction on how to “change” your Resolutionis posted at the bottom of the Iowa Home Page.

Remember, it’s YOUR Web Site, and will only be as“Informative” and as good as YOU want it to be!

If the Information is not sent to me, it won’t be on there!Bill Drury, State [email protected] Academy Ave.York, Ne. 68467(402) 362-2766

As the membership team for 2009-10 is currently planning for next year, I have been asked to request that each district let me know ASAP who will be on next year’s district membership teams. So as soon as each district has chosen a membership, delinquen-cy and re-enrollment chairman, I will need their names and contact information. Your help with this will be appreciated and thanks in
