Alice Cella Tells Us Why We Use The Color Green
Green vestments, altar cloths,, banners, etc. are in use
during Ordinary time.
It is the color of life! It is used during that period in which the
Church, founded by Jesus Christ and enlivened by the Holy
Spirit, begins to grow and spread the Gospel.
There are 33 or 34 Sundays in Ordinary Time because Easter is
a moveable feast, so the time can very. Thus green is the most
used color in the Liturgical Year.
Ordinary time begins after the Baptism of the Lord and
continues to the first week of Advent. Ordinary time is paused
by Lent/Easter and Advent/Christmas seasons.

Lo que sabemos de Santa Escolástica lo hemos conocido gra-cias a los escritos de Benito, su hermano gemelo y gran refor-mador de la vida monástica, fundador del convento de Monte Cassino. Siguiendo el ejemplo de su hermano, Escolástica fun-dó el monasterio para mujeres en Plombariola. Puesto que en ambas comunidades estaba prohibida la entrada a personas del sexo opuesto, Benito y Escolástica se reunían una vez por año en un punto intermedio para orar y hablar de la vida espiri-tual. Según las fuentes, durante su último encuentro llegó la hora de despedirse, Benito tenía que regresar al convento. Su hermana le insistió en que se quedara, pero se negó. Enton-ces, Escolástica le imploró a Dios que su hermano permane-ciera y la respuesta fue una tormenta copiosa, de tal suerte que irse era algo impensable. Benedicto reconoció en esta ac-ción no sólo la voluntad de Dios sino la petición que su herma-na le había hecho al mismo Dios que tanto amaban. Vesubio has been the 7pm choir leader for almost four (4) years. The choir sings liturgical music from the "Flor y Canto" music book. If you have had the pleasure to hear the choir you will be impressed by their command of their instruments and the vocals ... a wonderful addition to the celebration of the Mass!

A possible new ministry at St. Anthony is making rosaries. The commit-ment is usually an hour or so once a week. We could meet one morning a week in the Family Life Center. Once the rosar-ies are made either a deacon or priests bless-es them and then they are sent to our Armed Forces and throughout the world. If interested in starting this ministry, please give Karen a call!
