CHRIST, KING OF ALL Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe

Nov. 26 , 2017 On this, the final Sunday of the liturgical year, we

celebrate the solemnity of Christ the King. By concluding the

year with this feast we are proclaiming our faith that Jesus

Christ is the one and only king over all seasons, all peoples,

and all of creation.

At the end of time as we know it, Christ’s work of

restoring all things to unity and harmony with their Creator

God will be completed. This Sunday, when we claim Christ

as both our Shepherd and our King, we recognize our own

calling to participate in Christ’s saving work by caring for

those whom Jesus calls “the least ones” (Matthew 25:45). Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.

They didn’t see Him, because they didn’t do it. The goats sent to the left, to eternal separation, never saw

Jesus, because they never assisted those around them. They never saw the savior of the world because they never

saw their neighbors in need. The late Roman Braga, an Eastern Orthodox priest and religious said of Americans,

“There is a mentality [in the U.S.] that writing your monthly check to a charitable society can put your conscience to

rest, especially when at the end of the year you can claim your contributions as deductions. There is something lost

when you have no personal, and thus spiritual, connection with the people you help. Here you never even know the

people you help, because your gift is given in the abstract. If you write your check for charity you can sleep well,

even if in the hospital a person dies or your neighbor is in need. Maybe they do not need your money, but they do

need your smile, your comfort.”

This Thanksgiving weekend as we recover from large meals, and families, and football, and good cheer, let

us not forget those without food, or companionship, the ability to see, or mourning. May we never allow our

neighbors to become invisible. We men and women of faith must always see Christ in everyone we meet.

marriage or that of a relative or friend strug-

gling or even heading for divorce? Do you

know how to save that marriage? Or do you

feel helpless? Retrouvaille is designed to help

troubled marriages regain their health. It helps

spouses uncover or re-awaken the love, trust,

together. The program is highly successful in

saving hurting marriages, even bringing reconciliation to

couples who have already separated or divorced. For
