21st Sunday in Ordinary Time Dear Sisters and Brothers, Jesus puts a question to his disciples: “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?; then He makes it more personal by asking them: “Who do you say that I am?” Jesus is checking, what is the perception of him in the lives of people, and specially it is important to him, what do the apostles think of him. And so it is important for Jesus, who do you and I think, who he is. It is important, because on the base of this knowledge of Jesus, we decide

many things or even everything in our lives. Friendship with Jesus helps us to define our lives. As Jesus said to the disciples: I will make you the fishers of men. Their friendship with Jesus changed their lives forever in all aspects of it, to the point of them giving their lives for Jesus, as He gave his life for them. As Peter professes who Jesus is for him, so Jesus too professes who Simon is for him. Jesus gives him new name: “You are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church! “ We can say, that Jesus builds his church upon this confession of faith of Simon, now called Peter, the Rock. As we see, Jesus wants Simon to become the Rock, the foundation of his Church. Jesus wants you and me to become the foundation of faith for others too. It is possible, because of the knowledge of Jesus, because of the experience of Jesus that we make, then we can become credible witnesses of Jesus to others. We see this in the lives of the saints, how their faith transforms their lives, and their lives transform the world around them, they become the Rocks on which Jesus continues to build his church. Are you the Rock of faith for others??? Is Jesus the Rock of your life??? This is the mutual dependence of people trusting in each other. This is the trust of good friends, this is the trust of people who love each other. On this mutual trust we can build our lives on earth and in heaven. This two weekends we will celebrate First Communions for our Children on Saturday mornings. We will be transmitting the Masses on Internet with Deacon Andre’s help, but what is the most important, we will help those beautiful kids and young people to make Jesus the Rock of their lives, the foundation of their happiness, joy and love, as He is for all believers. God bless everyone always!!! Fr. Stan

Queridas Hermanas y Hermanos,

creyentes.

Dios les bendiga a todos siempre!!!

Dear Parishioners, Two years ago, the Bishop of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, John O. Barres appointed me to be one of the Associate Pastors of this great parish St Anne’s in Brentwood where Fr. Stanislaw Wadowski is the Pastor. It was a privilege and honor for me to work with everyone and serve God’s people here. If we all agree, as the Bible quotes: “There is an appointed time for everything, a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to arrive, and a time to leave…. (Ecc3,1-8).” However, it is also true that separation can be painful, hurtful. In the midst of all, as human beings and Christians we can experiment, we also believe in that assertion: ‘we shall never be alone but God will be always with us.’(Mt28,20), and his presence will never fail us. That is why he continues sending his messengers all over to preach the Good News, to mission for Him. On Wednesday, August 26th, 2020 I will no longer be serving at St Anne’s parish. I will be at the Church of St Joseph the Worker in East Patchogue to continue exercising my

priestly ministry. Jesus in the Gospel of St John defines the true role of the priest: “chosen and established by Christ to go and bear fruits.” And according to the Catholic Canon Law, the priest is a “Christian man who receives at the time of his ordination, through the imposition of the Bishop hands, the mission to ‘render present’ Christ among the people, in a particular way through the sacraments.” Now, as I am turning my very last week at this parish that I love and cherish. I want to take a moment to express my deepest and profound recognition to all those I was honored to serve and learn from. First and foremost, I want to thank God for all He has done for me and with me during this time. The Lord accomplishes marvelous things for those who hope in Him. He has been with me from the beginning of my assignment until the end. For that, I give praise and honor to Him. Second, a special and a big thank you to our Pastor Fr. Stan. You give me an example of someone who really cares and dedicates himself for the best of the parish. I will always remember you as a hard worker. Thank you to the Deacons of our parish, I was happy to celebrate the Eucharist with you. I admire your great sense of working together, your kindness and humility. You were always available for me when I asked for a special request. Thank you to the staff of the parish, secretaries and volunteers. You were very special gifts to me. Whenever I came to you for assistance, you did your very best to help me out. I was happy to have that superb experience with you. Thank you for that.

(cf. Ef 2,14).
