Meditation
Jesus, eternal King, you are mighty and merciful. I surrender to You. Come, reign in my heart.
Commitment Weekend
As our Renewal of Treasure comes to a close this weekend, we thank all who have returned
completed 2017 Stewardship of Treasure commitment forms. If you haven’t returned your
form, it is not too late. You can place it in the offertory basket, in the box in the Commons
Area or return it to the Parish Office. Thank you for your generosity!
Gartland Award Winners
Congratulations to St. Anne Church parishioners Charles and Minnie
Hanneman who will each be receiving the Gartland Award at a special
celebration at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Savannah this
weekend! Charles started the Knights of Columbus Lenten Fish Fries at
St. Anne Church in 2002. Over the years, he has been a part of many
parish ministries, including the Altar Society, Adoration, the Prime Timers,
Outreach, and has been an Usher. Minnie met Charles while helping with
the Knights of Columbus’ monthly breakfasts and they married in 2003.
Together, they planned and cooked monthly meals for the Friends Who
Care Ministry for seven years. Over the years, Minnie has been a member
of the Prime Timers, CCW, Sewing Circle, Ladies Auxiliary of Columbus, Good Neighbors,
Thyme & Talent, TLC, Elijah Cup, Greeters, Adoration, Rosary Group, and has volunteered in
the Notre Dame Shop. Charles and his wife, Minnie, have contributed much to St. Anne
Parish in their dedicated stewardship over the years. They are both solid in their faith and in
their commitment to the parish. They are both well deserving of the Gartland Award as a
token of our appreciation for their service.
Announcements
Upcoming Events
Scouting for Food
Cub Scout Pack 112 will be Scouting for Food before all
Masses this weekend. Please bring non-perishable items to
donate. Donations will be given to St. Anne Community
Outreach.
The Giving Tree
The Giving Tree will be in St. Anne Church’s Commons Area
the weekends of Nov. 26 & 27 and Dec. 3 & 4. Please
consider taking an angel ornament from the tree and
purchasing a gift for a child, disabled adult or elderly
individual. Your gifts will bring great joy! Unwrapped gifts
should be delivered to St. Anne Community Outreach by
Thurs., Dec. 8. In addition to its normal operating hours
(Mon., Wed., Thurs., 8:30 a.m.-Noon & Tue., 8:30 a.m.-
4 p.m.), the Center will be open after all Masses Dec. 3 & 4
and will have extended hours on Dec. 8 until 6:30 p.m. for
gift drop off. Please don’t leave gifts in the Parish Office or
church Commons Area. Contact the Outreach Center at
706-568-1592/[email protected] with questions.
Advent Prayer Group
Sisters Pat, Faith, and Margaret invite you to join them in
their home on Thursdays during Advent (Dec. 1, 8, 15 & 22)
from 9 until 10 a.m. for reflection and prayer based on Light
for the World by Rev. Ronald Rolheiser. Reflection focuses
our attention on the wonder of God's presence and action in
our world. Please call 706-569-0614 to register.
Breakfast with Santa
The deadline to make reservations to attend the St. Anne-
Pacelli Home & School Association’s annual Breakfast with
Santa is Tue., Nov. 29. Guests will enjoy spending time with
and a delicious breakfast at the event, to be held Sat., Dec. 3
from 9 to 11 a.m. in St. Anne Church's Visitation Hall.
Reservations are $8/person for kids age 4 and up and
adults. Children 3 and under are FREE, but need a
reservation with an adult. Reservations may be made online:
beaviking.com/breakfast-with-santa.
Christmas Bingo
Join us for Christmas Bingo on Sun., Dec. 4 at 4 p.m. in
Visitation Hall. Please bring a $5-$10 door prize which will be
worth three Bingo cards. Light refreshments will be provided,
and you are welcome to bring your own, as well.
Advent Penance Service
There will be a Columbus Deanery-wide Advent Penance
Service at St. Anne Church on Mon., Dec. 5 at 7 p.m.
Deanery priests will be on hand to assist with confessions. In
the season of Advent, an essential part of our preparation to
celebrate the Feast of the Nativity of Our Lord at Christmas is
confession of sin and reconciliation with God and neighbor.
Christmas Trivia
Join us for a Christmas Trivia Night at St. Anne on Thurs.,
Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. in Visitation Hall! It’s a Holy Day of Obligation
so come for Mass at 6 p.m. and stay for Trivia. All
parishioners 18 and over are welcome! Chili and hot dogs
will be provided but feel free to bring your own food and
drinks, too!
Spotlight on Stewardship November 20, 2016 Stewardship Reflection “….giving thanks to the Father, who has made you fit
to share in the inheritance of the holy ones in light.”
Colossians 1:12
God wants us to be happy! Instead of looking at the
Ten Commandments as being restrictive and telling
us what we can’t do, look at them as guides for living
a joy-filled and peaceful life. Most of our problems
arise when we put our own needs first or spend most
of our time trying to acquire “things.” Try putting God
first in all things instead. St. Anne Community Outreach
Outreach will be open this weekend, Nov. 19 & 20, to
accept donations before & after all Masses. The item
of the month is toothpaste.
Ministry Spotlight
Thyme & Talent
Are you a natural born hostess? Then we need you to
join our parish’s Thyme & Talent ministry. This group
prepares and/or serves meals or refreshments for
small parish functions. Ministry members can set up
and decorate for functions, prepare and serve the
meal, and/or clean up after the function. Members
work together in teams. The time commitment is
usually a few hours each month, depending on the
church‘s calendar. Cooking experience is an asset,
but not necessary. If you are interested, contact
Donna Tomayko at [email protected].
