St. Ann Parish Mission Statement We are called by a loving God

to make St. Ann of Lansing a Catholic community of faith. We are a family of diverse people with various ministries: healing the body and spirit, teaching of God and His love,

united in sacraments and prayer, reaching out to the extended community. With God’s revelation of Himself in Scripture as our guide,

we strive to grow in His Spirit and to fulfill the promise of Christ’s Kingdom.

Miss Me—But Let Me Go

When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me,

I want not rites in a gloom filled room. Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little—but not too long And not with your head bowed low. Remember the love we once shared.

Miss me—but let me go.

For this is a journey that we all must take, And each must go alone.

It’s all a part of the Master’s plan, A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick of heart Go to the Friend we know, And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.

Miss me—but let me go.

In Loving Memory of

Virginia Gruszecki

Today is the Thirty-third Sunday in Ordinary time. The Responsorial Psalm is, “You are my inheritance, O Lord.” (Psalm 16:5, 8,9-10,11) The Gospel talks about the end of the world, which only God knows.

Thursday of this coming week is Thanksgiving. May God’s many blessings given to you be celebrated at your family gatherings. The beautiful prayer of the Gospel for Thanksgiving is the Magnificat.

THE MAGIFICAT

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Savior for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name.

He has mercy on those who fear him in every generation.

He has shown the strength of His arm, he has scattered the proud in their conceit.

He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty.

He has come to the help of his servant Israel for he has remembered his promise of mercy, the promise he made to our fathers, to Abraham and his children forever.

Amen. Serving Him Together,

Barb A.

Ministry of Care Do you know someone who is home-bound or in the hospital who would like to receive the Holy Eucharist? Our very own St. Ann Ministry of Care (formerly known as Ministry of Communion to the Sick) is here to help. Members of the ministry are devoted to bring-ing the Word and Holy Eucharist to those who are una-ble to attend Mass. To schedule a visit from the Minis-try of Care or to obtain additional information, please contact the Parish Office at 708-895-6700.

Women’s Center Family Resource Room

Thank you to all who support this important pro-life ministry at Our Lady of Knock with your

donations, service and prayers!

We gratefully accept all contributions of clothing, baby supplies, equipment, and toys. Right now we

urgently need children’s coats and sleepers for infant girls and boys from newborn on up.

Donations can be dropped off at the Our Lady of Knock Rectory, 501 163rd Street, Calumet City, during the

week between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., or at Door D on the east end of the school building on Tuesdays & Thurs-

days from 9:30 - Noon. FMI on the Women’s Center, please call Cathy Knetl at 708-651-0262.

Thank you again! Please keep our counselors, moms, and volunteers in your prayers.

November 17-18, 2012 Dear Friends,

Each day of November finds the faculty and students praying for our deceased loved ones. Children have brought pictures of deceased loved ones for our Altar of Remembrance, and we pray for those pictured on the window sills of our beautiful church.

We have mailed several boxes of "goodies" to our Mili-tary Men and Women and wish to thank Mrs. Bonnie Hall, our Student Council, Mrs. Laura Serba, and all who contributed items and/or postage money. We know our heroes will enjoy the touch of home for Thanksgiving. The highlight in the packages was cards made by our children.

Girl Scout Troup 60838 is collecting school supplies for child victims of Hurricane Sandy. Our third and fourth graders have joined in the effort, and they, too, are writing personal notes to those who are in such great need. Every little bit counts!

Today, our St. Ann School and Religious Education second grade parents will meet after the 10:30 a.m. Mass to learn more about our Sacraments of First Rec-onciliation and Holy Eucharist. Please keep our beauti-ful young children in your prayers

We will have yearbook pictures taken this Tuesday, November 20. We thank Mrs. Sypole for again coordi-nating our yearbook efforts.

We will have a Thanksgiving Prayer Service on Wednesday, November 21. Children are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to the Service. These gifts will be given to the Lansing Food Pantry. We will dis-miss on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.

Have a blessed, happy Thanksgiving . . . We thank God daily for YOU! Donna Lamoureux
