St. Ann PCCW October 30,2016 Flock Talk Funeral Dinners At St. Ann Parish Sue Carlton has been organizing and helping with Funeral Dinners for 20 years. Active in PCCW, Sue organized volunteer women into seven “Funeral Groups”. Each group has ten women of which two are leaders. When Sue is notified that there has been a death at St. Ann, she calls one of the leaders of a group to see if they are available to organize and provide a funeral dinner. The leaders are responsible for calling the rest of the members of the group to bring a salad, vegetable or desert to the cafeteria at the appropriate time. The leaders provide the meat and potatoes, paid for by the Parish. They also set the tables, provide drinks, serve the meal and clean up. Members of the group often help serve as well. If a funeral is large, two funeral groups work together to provide enough food. Food can be taken to a home if the family chooses not to gather in the cafeteria for dinner. Helping to provide food for a Funeral Dinner builds community in our Parish. All women can help. Working women can drop off their food before work or arrange for it to be delivered. Because of people moving away, more volunteers are needed. Please consider helping with this important mission in our Parish. Call Sue at 417-388-9126 to volunteer. What is the connection

between our understanding

of Mary and the rest of the

saints? Why do we ask

Mary and other "dead

people" to pray for us? The

answers to these questions

serve to give us a

framework for the Catholic

Church's teachings on life

after death and what we

call "The Communion of the

Saints."
