St. Ann Parish Mission Statement We are called by a loving God
to make St. Ann of Lansing a Catholic community of faith.
We are a family of diverse people with various ministries:
healing the body and spirit, teaching of God and His love,
united in sacraments and prayer, reaching out to the extended community.
With God’s revelation of Himself in Scripture as our guide,
we strive to grow in His Spirit and to fulfill the promise of Christ’s Kingdom.

Memories and Dreams Throughout our lives, we retain the lan-
guage and habits of our native region and
family of origin. Should we return to our
home after a long absence, we quickly
revert to its familiar speech and practices.
Our deep memory is reflected in old sto-
ries and words and speech patterns. This
familiarity runs like an underground river
and accompanies us wherever we go.
Not only do we remember, we are incor-
porated into and made part of a greater
memory. In remembering and recollect-
ing, we are in turn gathered up and re-
collected.
Today we remember Mary, a small figure
travelling the country roads to visit Eliza-
beth. All the great pronouncements and
dreams of the prophets point to this time
when the Lord’s words to Mary would be
gathered and fulfilled. The memories of
her people are alive in her, and memories
of her nourish our own living faith.

Dear Parishioners and Friends,
Last year we raised nearly $30,000 at our 2nd
annual A Night at the Palace, and we are hop-
ing to duplicate that success in 2019. We will
return to the beautiful Dream Palace in Lyn-
wood. Committees are just now forming, and
they are looking for input from all directions to
make this the kind of event EVERYONE will want
to attend. March may seem like a long way off,
but it will be here before we know it. As such,
we are appealing to you today for help. Do you
own or work for a business that would be willing
to make a donation to the event? We are in
need of both financial support in the form of
sponsorships and auction and raffle prizes.
Sponsorships will offset the cost of operating the
evening, and your business will be prominently
featured on all supporting materials and at the
event itself. Auction and raffle prizes can in-
clude such items as sports or theater tickets, jew-
elry, electronics, art, vacation getaways, muse-
um passes, small appliances, gift cards, or even
services like personal training, catering, land-
scaping, tutoring, etc. The possibilities are limit-
less! Donor forms are available at the Parish Of-
fice and will soon be on our websites. FMI, call
708-895-6700. Thank you for your support!

A group of generous donors has agreed to pool their resources and offer a 2-for-1 matching gift program to schools run by the Archdiocese of Chicago. For every dollar designated to a qualifying school such as St. Ann through Empower Illinois between December 1, 2018 and February 28, 2019, the school will receive two dollars in matching funds. The donations are capped at $100,000 per school.
You can help low-income students receive a quality Catholic education, while reducing or eliminating your State of Illi-nois income tax liability. Donors who would like to receive the 75% tax credit for their 2018 taxes should begin the pro-cess prior to December 14, 2018 or as soon as possible to ensure that they have enough time to make their gift by De-cember 31, 2018. After that, the tax credit will be given on the 2019 taxes.
For more information please visit www.archchicago.org/tcs or call 312.534.2617.

MOMENTS
Marian Catholic’s Symphonic Band visited us last week for a spectacular Christmas concert! Pictured here in church are St. Ann grads and parishioners who are current members of the band, along with renowned longtime director Mr. Gregg Bimm. Mari-an is one of the few high school music programs that accepts students with no previous experience and consistently turns out fine musicians. Great job, all!
8th Grade helped PreK make their
Advent wreaths, and the whole school
celebrated Grinch Day together!
