the tide of social expectations. Jesus’ own moment of greatness, like his Mother’s, came when He said “Yes,” to his Father in Gethsemane, and Jesus’ own obedience is our model. Will we surrender to God and allow God to do what, from our human point of view, seems impossible? It is by saying, with Jesus and Mary, a wholehearted and totally unconditional “Yes,” to God that Jesus will be re-born in each of us – or maybe even born in us for the first time. By my saying “yes,” Jesus may well be born or reborn in others too. Excerpt from Radio Vaticana on LIturgical Reflections
Today the Church celebrates the Fourth Sunday of Advent. We light the last candle on our Advent wreath and we are so close to Christmas. This final candle, the “Angel’s Candle,” symbolizes peace. It reminds us of the message of the angels: “Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men.”
Jesus’ earthly existence begins with Mary’s “Yes” in today’s account of the Annunciation. We need to say a courageous and generous “Yes” to God as Mary did. True obedience comes from a free choice made in the light of what is true and good. It often requires a great deal of courage, because it can involve going against
the tide of social expectations.

forgiveness, mercy, peace, joy, and love. This is what we celebrate at Christmas - our welcoming Father, giving us a place in His heart through Jesus, His Son.
During this holy season of giving, let us also be mindful of those who are in need. The best gifts we can give to others at Christmas are not expensive presents. The best gift we can share is the love, joy, and peace of the Lord. We do so by our prayers for others, kind words and gestures, forgiveness, and joyful witness. Let us bring Christ to others this Christmas. May this final week of Advent be a prayerful time of joyful preparation for the coming of Jesus amidst the pandemic. Our parish is extremely blessed with many dedicated parishioners who generously and willingly give their time, talents, and treasures for the good of our parish community. I would like to take this opportunity to THANK all of you, especially all the Volunteers in our parish. You are greatly appreciated!
With deep joy and gratitude, I, together with Father Tomson, the Parish Pastoral Council, the Parish and School Staff, extend to you and your families our prayerful best wishes for a Holy and Blessed Christmas.
God bless you always and in all ways,
+ Father Joe
In the final hustle and bustle before Christmas, let us take some time to reflect on God’s merciful love for us.
In our Lord Jesus Christ, we are given a home – a place where we experience
forgiveness, mercy, peace, joy, and

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION
Christian stewards know that the true joy of Christmas is not tied into the wealth of goods under the tree or the abundance of food and parties, but into the abundance of love and generosity that fill our hearts and share to others, especially those most in need of our generous spirit. It is important to take time throughout this holiday season for silence and stillness, to make room in our hearts for the child born into poverty who came to give us life and share it with all those whom we encounter.

An elderly man is stopped by the police for speeding around 2am on Christmas Day and is asked where he is going at this time of night. The man replies, "I am on my way to a lecture about alcohol abuse and the effects it has on the human body, as well as smoking and staying out late." The officer then asks, "Really? Then who is giving that lecture at this time of night?" Without hesitation, the man replies, "That would be my wife."
