Sunday 8 December 10 a.m. Looking Ahead... Mount Allison Choral Society—“Jubilate Deo!” The Choral Society sings Saint-Saëns’ Christmas Oratorio for choir, strings, and organ. Britten’s Jubilate Deo for choir and organ will also be included in this program of seasonal works. Directed by Dr. Gayle h Martin. Sunday 24 November, 3 p.m., University Chapel (Choral Society includes four St. Andrew’s singers: Carol, Laura, Linda, and Mary.)

As we gather for worship we acknowledge that the land on which we gather is the traditional unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq peoples. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” which the Mi’kmaq peoples first signed with the British Crown in 1725. The treaties did not deal with surrender of lands and resources but in fact recognized Mi’kmaq title and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.

God of mercy; as we gather to celebrate your gift of peace we recall with sorrow the times when we forget you and are divided one from the other. How often our thoughts, our words, and our actions, have betrayed the goodness you have shown to us. Forgive us, merciful God. Mend what is broken. WE RESPOND TO GOD *Hymn: The church of Christ, in every age 486 The Book of Praise *Affirmation of faith Selection from Living Faith, “God Creates and Rules”, 2.1.1-3 The living God is Lord, Creator of all, Sustainer and Ruler of the universe. In the seasons and the harvests, in the rise and fall of nations, God's goodness and judgment are present. All events in this world are under the sovereign care of the eternal God. We hold in reverence the whole creation as the theatre of God's glory and action. God rules the lives of individuals and nations yet God does not negate our freedom and responsibility. Ever at work in the world and in our lives God directs all things towards fulfillment in Christ. We affirm God's righteous and loving purpose even in a world where evil abounds. This purpose is uniquely disclosed in Jesus Christ. In him we see the greatest paradox of life: the mighty God chose to come into this world in weakness.
