These treasured children present now are bound to us by sacred vow: with love, we make a heartfelt claim to welcome them in Jesus’ name.

Children ages three years through kindergarten are invited to go to the Children’s Chapel atthis time. Older children are invited to remain in the sanctuary with their parents.

Q. 116 Why is prayer necessary for Christians?A. Because it is the chief part of the gratitude which God requires of us, and because God will give his grace and Holy Spirit only to those who sincerely beseech him in prayer without ceasing, and who thank him for these gifts. Amen.

It also provides a place and opportunities for children to begin exploring the purpose and meaning of worship. Eternal God, we confess that we have failed to seek your will. You have shown us what is good, but we remain enthralled by evil. You have offered us abundance, but we are satisfied with wealth. Forgive us, God of grace. By the power of your Word cut away all that is false and open our hearts to new life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (silent confession)

ChoralResponse (The congregation is invited to join in the response.) Come, ye thirsty, come, and welcome; God’s free bounty glorify, true belief and true repentance, every grace that brings you nigh.

DeclarationofPardon Leader: Friends, believe the good news of the gospel.People: In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Thanks be to God!

ChoralResponse (The congregation is invited to join in the response.) I will arise and go to Jesus; he will embrace me in his arms. In the arms of my dear Savior, O there are ten thousand charms.

CalltoFaithfulnessLeader: As God’s own people, be merciful in action, kindly in heart, humble in mind.

Be always ready to forgive as freely as God has forgiven you. And, above everything else, be loving, and never forget to be thankful for what Christ has done for you.
