We had over 1,000 people who dined with us this past Thanksgiving. The Family Candle Lighting Ceremony was very special for our members and their families. Many were there to watch as our member Dr. Rappaport recited the blessings and lit the first Chanukah candle. Thank you and your families for sharing this special holiday with us and a special thank you to Dr. Rappaport. Dear Members,The season is well underway and I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. We welcomed in the New Year in grand style with a record crowd at our New Year’s Eve celebration. Those attending enjoyed the food, music and ambiance. Now in my seventh year at St. Andrews Country Club as your General Manager, I am happy to see more members, families and guests enjoying the facilities and amenities more than ever this past holiday season. Over the past three weeks we have had a record number of people enjoying dining, golf, fitness, spa, tennis and the pool. The professional staff is to be commended for a terrific job given the large number of people enjoying the Club. St. Andrews Country Club was recently awarded the Distinguished Emerald Club of the World designation. Only 56 private clubs out of 4,500 in the United States have received this award and only 18 in the Residential Communities category have achieved this distinction. This award reinforces the high level of PRIDE our members and staff have in being a part of St. Andrews. Knowing we strive to make our members happy with outstanding facilities, great service and product consistency is the hallmark of any private club. However, this industry recognition creates a “buzz” about who we in the community of top clubs in the world. This helps with marketing St. Andrews to home buyers and members vs. competing communities and clubs in our area. It continues to be important that we maintain a leading edge against other clubs to attract not only new members, but to hire good staff as part of our recruiting program. So I hope you are as PROUD of St. Andrews for receiving this award as the staff and I are. If you’re looking for something different for lunch, please stop by The View or Café Blue by the Pool where lunch is available every day. Both offer a unique lunch menu so whether you prefer to dine at the bar watching sports or if you like to dine outside with a water and golf course view we have you covered. Our new Business Center, located across from the Front Desk offers computer access so you can look things up online or conveniently print boarding passes. It is open from 7:00am-9:00pm daily and if you need any assistance with the equipment, please let the Front Desk know. The Morgan & Friends Fight Cancer tournament will be held on Monday, January 6 and I encourage you to sign up in the Golf Shop and show your support to this great cause which helps the fight against breast cancer. Invitations for the Pool Party on Friday, January 17 will be in the mail shortly and please remember to return your RSVPs promptly. We appreciate your patience as the contractors work to finish up all of the Phase II punch list items and those items identified by the inspectors needing to be finished correctly. On behalf of the 280 professional staff working hard to make you happy each day, “Thank You” for the kind gesture of the holiday gift derived from the holiday fund which was shared with, and appreciated by, the entire team.Sincerely,

Style

By now everyone should know what is new around the club in food and beverage and at the Recreation & Aquatic Center. The View is our new lounge and bar located off the main club lobby. This new venue has been a resounding success and will be a hot gathering place for members and their guests to have pre-dinner cocktails and hors d’ oeuvres for years to come. The View has entertainment starting at 7:00pm every Friday and Saturday night and now we are adding cordials and a late night dessert cart for the crowd who want to socialize with friends after dinner. The View will stay open until 11:00pm Friday and Saturday nights. Join us for Happy Hour from 3:30pm to 5:30pm daily and enjoy half price beverages. At the Recreation & Aquatic Center, Frenel and his team serve lunch daily from 11:30am to 3:00pm at Café Blue. Dine by the lake and enjoy a cool, craft cocktail and a great burger or a shrimp taco from our all new Café Blue lunch menu. Visit Splash Club, our new children’s game room with three, large TVs, WII, Xbox and your favorite video games. Kids can have lunch in Splash Club while enjoying

an afternoon movie or playing video games. There is even an area for tiny tots with games, chalkboards and painting. Every Sunday at Café Blue and the Recreation & Aquatic Center join us for Aqualicious, enjoy food and drink specials, sultry sounds from one of Miami’s DJs and sip champagne served up poolside - St. Andrews Style. The Gallery restaurant opened with great reviews and our daily club members menu was an addition just after Thanksgiving and has really rounded out the menu. The Gallery has been so popular that we have already had several sold out nights so please remember to make reservations early. The best way to make a reservation is to call Jennifer from 10:00am to 6:00pm daily at 561-470-6566 or email [email protected]. As an additional reminder, as we head into our busiest time of year, please observe dress codes and club guest policies in card rooms and around the club in general. See you around the club.

Happy New Year! This month starts off our yearly Lecture Series with an Art Lecture by gallery owner Dominic Taglialatella. Mr. Taglialatella will be discussing the advantages and risks of collecting art, and how to go about building a collection. Topics include the homework, footwork and hard-work of collecting. Where to source art, judge quality and understand the pitfalls of the

international auction system. This is a lecture you won’t want to miss!If you’re looking for a cool way to relax after a long weekend, join us at Aqualicious, Sunday’s Hottest Pool Party. We will be joined with Guest DJ’s from Miami every Sunday from 1:00p.m.-4:00p.m. offering food and drink specials featuring our brand new dining space, Café Blue. If you prefer a well-dressed evening at the Gallery to flip-flops at the pool, we welcome you to the View on Friday and Saturday nights from 7:00pm-11:00pm for musical entertainment. Our celebrated selection of entertainers features everyone from new favorites like Alex & the Band, to classics like Helene Johnson singing French Ballads on Le Grande Gallerie night. We hope you had as much fun as we did during the holidays. From Mother Goose Stories at the Storybook Tea to Bungee Jumping at the Winter Carnival and Block Party Dinner, St. Andrews was the place to be for activities. Don’t be sad it’s over though; we have a ton of great events coming up in January. On January 3 we start with our monthly Dive in Movie showing “Spirited Away” at Café Blue. Kids Club is on January 17 and we continue our Kids Can Series with Kids Can Paint on January 24 with The Go Van Gogh Art Studio. Don’t forget to visit the Splash Club, our new Rec Room located in the Recreation & Aquatic Center. It has a brand new Arcade Legends 3 game with over 300 game choices from Tetris to Golf Pro as well as three flat screen TV’s for playing Xbox and Wii. Have you noticed the bright orange panels on the wall? They are heat-sensitive! Try pressing your hand on it and see what happens. This space will also host our monthly Arts and Crafts at the Pool on January 12 from 2:00p.m.-3:00p.m. See you there!

What an end to a spectacular 2013 Golf Season! A busy December kicked off on Friday the 6th with the “Welcome Back Event.” Over 150 members enjoyed an afternoon filled with golf and cocktails followed by a reception out at the gorgeous new pool. Next up was the Men’s President’s Cup. In Flight I Randy Katz held off the tough Marty Weisfeld while in Flight II Steve Irwin got off to a hot start and headed off a late charge by Bill Herbstman. In Flight III Eric Schneider won over long

hitting Mark Kliener on the 17th hole while in Flight IV Stan Freidman held off Jon Vogel to win on the 18th hole. In Flight V it was Boston’s finest Barry Glassman knocking out steady Leon Brauser. While the men were busy with the President’s Cup, the ladies of the S.A.W.G.A. were busy hosting their Governors Cup. The 2 day event ended on December 12 and in Flight I Vicki Newman & Wendy Kohansky beat the tough team of Robin Milich & Amy Ross. In Flight II, Elaine Sarnoff & Joan Stark won on the 18th hole over the steady team of Kim Bregman & Serena Werber. In Flight III Wendy Child & Yu Nadler took out the team of Lois Lerner & Ellen Pollack while in Flight IV Joan Babic & Ina Rae Fox held off Judy Cooperman & Hillaine Kroft on the 18th hole. Claiming Flight V was Sue Katz & Gris Rudes with a 2-up over victory over Gloria Kurzrok & Arlene Ruff. Congratulations to all players in both the Men’s and Ladies 1st majors of the season.Next was the Men’s Clint Moore Cup held on December 11 & 18. This is the battle for bragging rights between St. Andrews & Woodfield Country Club. Woodfield held the trophy so the boys of St. Andrews were playing hard to get it back and they did just that. St. Andrews took a 12 point lead after day one and put out 35 tough teams on day two to hold on and bring the trophy back to St. Andrews. Congratulations and thank you to all the members who played and supported our team. The month ended with a busy holiday season that was filled with six Junior Holiday Clinics, Special Holiday Demo Day, and a special kid’s clinic with our Resident Touring Professional Morgan Pressel.January will kick into full swing on January 5 & 6 with the 7th annual Morgan & Friends Fight Cancer Tournament. The special auction dinner will be held on Sunday night and super comedian Bobby Collins will highlight the night. Monday Morgan will tee it up with LPGA superstars Paula Creamer, Lexi Thompson, and Stacey Lewis who will be joined by upcoming star Jessica Korda and LPGA legend Julie Inkster. Don’t miss out on this event which over the last six years has raised over $2.7 million in its fight against breast cancer. The January calendar is filled with events like Ladies’ President’s Cup, Men’s Governors Cup, Nine, Wine, & Dine, and the Ladies’ Country Club Challenge. The month ends with the Spectacular Men’s 1-day Member-Guest on Friday January 31. Sign up boards are available in the Golf Shop for the events so be sure to swing by and see all the new hard goods and soft goods we have brought in for the New Year.

The 13th Annual St. Andrews / Broken Sound Tennis Challenge was held on enemy territory and after fourteen tightly contested matches, Broken Sound somehow won four 3rd set tie-breakers to close out a very narrow victory eight matches to six. Thanks to all of our participating members for being part of this fun annual event. We look forward to next year playing on home soil and hopefully taking back the coveted Cup trophy. Our Toys for Tots Round Robin had eighteen members participate and everyone had a wonderful time. On the Ladies side, Merv Bell played some excellent tennis and continued her improved play to take home the winner’s trophy over finalist Marilee Susi. On the Men’s side, Seymour Grundy used his vast experience and strong net play to get by finalist Peter Lande. Thanks to all of you for your generosity and support for the needy children of South Florida. All three of our South Palm Beach County ladies’ teams are playing extremely well and all are very competitive in their respective divisions. Our Division 7 team (led by Captain Barb Turesky) is in its third year and continues to show great improvement each year (This year we are currently competing for top honors!!!). Our three Men’s senior teams will begin play in early January and we are looking forward to another terrific season. Warren Eisenstein will captain two teams (our Grand Slam League team and our Division 4 Palm Beach County team) and Gordy Saul will captain our Division 8 Palm Beach County senior team. Thanks guys for all your dedication and support! In closing, I want to remind everyone to sign up for this seasons Professional Exhibition match on Tuesday, February 11. Yours truly will be playing a singles match vs Brad Gilbert (current ESPN television commentator, former world #4 and winner of 20 ATP Singles Titles). The always popular Jimmy Arias (former world #5) will play in the doubles match. This should be a great evening so please sign up in the Tennis Shop at your earliest convenience. I wish everyone a very happy and healthy new year! See you on the courts!

The classes we have scheduled are all high intensity and major fat burners, which is just what all the latest fitness findings are promoting. Gone is the strategy of walking for an hour on the treadmill at 3.4 mph. What will really boost your metabolism and kick your body into “after burn” (working hard enough to continue burning calories hours after you have left the gym) is a

Spinning® Class or an Insanity® Class or a nonstop TRX® Class. All of these classes are complimentary and offered weekly! The InBody230 Body Composition Analyzer is the newest addition to the Fitness Center’s fight on fat! We will be testing everyone at the beginning and end of the competition, so you can see the real results of your hard work. If signing up for a challenge is not your cup of tea, you can always call to make an appointment to have your body fat tested whenever is most convenient for you. Happy New Year from the entire Fitness Staff!

The Style Magazine is always available digitally on our member website but this year we will be

offering you the opportunity to read it earlier than you can receive it via regular mail. Please keep an eye out for an email linking you to the monthly Style Magazine and we encourage you to help us “go green” by reading it online and opting out of receiving it via regular mail. This not only saves trees but significantly reduces the printing and postage expense. To opt out of receiving it via regular mail, just send me an email at [email protected] or call me directly at 561-470-6571.

We are always looking for photos from members and would like to start a Photo Club with your participation. It will be the Photo Club’s job to cover all aspects of life at St. Andrews from enjoying the Club facilities and amenities to your beautiful homes and gardens. We will designate a prominent page on our website to showcase your work, upload the images to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn (with your permission) and we hope to create a space within the Clubhouse for a small gallery. All photos and videos should be submitted to my attention and I will share them with the Marketing Communications Committee for review of content and appropriateness.

In the meantime, if you haven’t done so already, please visit us on Facebook and LinkedIn and search for “St. Andrews Country Club,” and be sure to LIKE the pages! You can also follow us on Twitter and Instagram at StAndrewsBoca. We also have our own YouTube Channel and invite you to watch our videos from events around the Club. By simply “LIKE(ing)” our pages, profiles, videos and images you help expand our marketing reach to prospective new members!
