Dear Friends,

I will be gone this weekend to do the Mission

Appeal for my Diocese, Sivagangai. I will be saying

Masses in Cornell, Drywood and Jim Falls. Kindly

pray for my travel. Rev. Fr. William Kulas who

resides in Galesville will be saying Masses here and

he will be also doing the Mission Appeal for the

faithful in Uganda. So, Let us give him a hearty

welcome.

As for the arson, we are taking prompt actions to

get things done rightly and mercifully. Last week,

the service men came and they removed the

gasoline smell from the church. They did a wonder-

ful job and we were able have mass inside the

Church. We are discussing with the Insurance

Company and the window will be fixed soon. As the

victim, we are asked to follow up the case. I think

everything will be set right with the help of God.

Pray good things happen to all.

On Monday, I will be going to Madison to receive

Rev. Msgr. Eugene, the Vicar General of the

Diocese of Thiruchirappalli, Tamilnadu, India. He

is here in America for the mission appeal for his

diocese. Since many of his diocesan priests are

working in the Diocese of La Crosse, he is coming

here to see them. Since I know him personally, I am

going to receive him from Madison. I think he will

be here at the end of this month. Pray everything

goes well.

Coming to the 16th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Jesus

appreciates Mary, sister of Martha for her patient

listening. Jesus himself says that Mary has chosen

the better part. What it is? It is LISTENING.

Listening is an art. It helps the people to come out

of their emotions. Many a time, we tend to speak a

lot. Bernard Mannes Baruch says, “Most of the

successful people I’ve known are the ones who do

more listening than talking.” Jesus calls us to listen.

Mary has chosen the better part of listening to Him.

How are we in our life? Are we able to listen more

in order to understand other people?

"We have two ears and one tongue so that we would

listen more and talk less."

Here I am to listen to your stories if you are in need.

Fr. Antony Joseph

ATTENTION ST. BARTHOLOMEW PARISHIONERS Pastoral Council meeting on Thursday, July 21 at 6:30 p.m. in the rectory.

We are planning another Ice Cream Social on Saturday, July 23 after the 5:30 p.m. Mass, on the lawn in front

of the church and rectory.

Free bag lunch for kids up to 18 years of age, at the library in Trempealeau, on Thursday’s, at noon to 1:00

p.m. This will be provided every Thursday during the summer.

Have you ever wished that you had the opportunity to give or do more for your parish community, but you did

not know how, or have that little bit extra to donate? Here is you chance! I would like to welcome you to

enjoy one of the most rewarding and fulfilling positions that I have had the pleasure of experiencing. We have

found the need to fill a few positions for a teacher and teacher’s aides for our 2016/2017 Religious Education

classes. No prior teaching experience is necessary. Classes are held on Wednesday evenings at 6:15 p.m. and

running for an hour and fifteen minutes. If you are interested or have any questions, please contact Mike

Maier, Coordinator Religious Education (CRE), by email: [email protected] or 608-780-9742.

Thank you for your time, and I hope you will consider volunteering for this wonderful enriching experience.

Mike Maier, St. Bartholomew’s CRE.

We are planning the Sunday meal for Vacation Bible School: We need 2 ketchups, 1 mustard, chips, grapes,

watermelon, and muskmelon. We will accept monetary donations to cover the items that we don’t receive.

Please call the office, 534-6652, by July 28, with the items you can donate. The VBS teachers have asked for

supplies, but would like to pick them up and have them when needed. A monetary donation is welcome.

It is summer and we would like to collect non-perishable food items for the GET Food Pantry. Please bring

your items to the church and put in or around the tote marked for the Food Pantry. Thank you.

COMMUNICATION TO ALL

Mission Coop Sunday: An envelope was provided in last week’s bulletin, for the convenience of making

your donation. Please make checks payable to your local parish and return the envelope through the

weekend collection or parish office. Thank you in advance for the sacrifices you make on behalf of the

mission of the Church and the annual Mission Coop.

Alpha Reunion Potluck, Sunday, July 17th at 5:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s. Bring a friend!

The Trempealeau County Fair is next week, July 21-24. Please support the Knights of Columbus by visiting

our food stand and enjoying some of our signature hamburgers, pizza burgers and hot dogs, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Witnesses for Christ Annual Conference on August 26-27 at Blessed Sacrament Parish. This is a good

retreat to attend for all teachers and anyone who is looking for spiritual inspiration. Register by August 5-$65

or by August 17-$75. No late registrations or walk-ins. There will be registration forms in the entrance of the

churches. If you can’t find them and wish to go call the office, 534-6652. This would be good for all Religious

Education Teachers to attend.

Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School is looking for a dynamic Principal to lead its community in successfully

implementing its Catholic Mission. This principal position does involve teaching duties—approximately three

hours a day. Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School’s employees believe in and care a great deal for their

students. The position begins on August 1, 2016. Please apply by sending a letter of application, your resume,

a copy of your principal’s license, tree letters of reference, and a copy of your transcripts to: Saints Peter and

Paul Parish, attn: Father Woodrow Pace, 36028 Osseo Road, P.O. Box 430, Independence, WI 54747.

ATTENTION ST. MARY PARISHIONERS Thank you to the Knights of Columbus who repaired the kneelers in our church. It is greatly appreciated.

Thank you to all who came to the Ecumenical Picnic. This is what brings communities together.

WELCOME VISITORS AND GUESTS We are happy that you have come to share in this Eucharist Celebration with us. If you have come as a stranger,

we hope that you will leave as a friend. You are always welcome.

Thank you, Deacon Russ for your help and service in our parishes.

May God bless you in your work with your new parishes.

On anniversaries, the wise husband always forgets the past—but never the present.
